I have a 2012-2013 G19 gen 3. It just started the BTF with certain ammo. Does Glock have a fix for this if I send it in? I don't want to add aftermarket parts to correct it.
Other than the BTF, it is reliable and accurate.

If it didn't do it before and just started, and didn't do it before with the same ammo, when is the last time you really, really cleaned it. (For most people the answer is "never")

If it only does it with certain ammo, the certain ammo just lacks the energy to operate the slide reliably, with your grip and recoil spring.

1st go ahead and clean it to see if it helps. I had the same issue and changed to a 30274 ejector that is found on the Gen 4 TMH and a non-LCI spring loaded bearing which you install on the extractor depressor plunger spring (MidwayUSA has these parts). This took care of BTF for me. You can also get an Apex extractor as well.

Possibly the MIM extractor has worn allowing movement that it didn't when newer.

I did that to fix a model 19 Gen 3 that threw brass at my head from start.
I did it to another as prevention before I shot it, result was no BTF ever.

I did the 30274, non-lci pring loaded bearing and apex extractor and results were no more BTF. I did this on 2 G-19's, 2 G-17's and one G34

Something that is seldom mentioned is how one gets the Gen4 30274 ejector and installs it into a Gen3 pistol ...it's not sold by itself.

One must order the Gen4 9x19mm trigger mechanism housing part 30275. Then the 30274 ejector must be extracted from the TMH, as well as the 336 ejector from the Gen3 TMH. Then the 336 ejector can be replaced by the 30274 ejector.

Neither this nor the use of the non-LCI spring-loaded bearing part 1176 are Glock-approved modifications.

If you never had the problem earlier, it's doubtful that the ejector or SLB need these innovations. Something else has changed. Are you using the same grip hold?

Based on my trials, tribulations and studying of this subject, I think the issue is that the extractors lack proper tension.

Extractor tension is either lost over time, the port gets dirty or proper tension was not there from the beginning due to less than perfect parts and design from Glock.

If you study how the ejection process works, you will note that the extractor has to hold the shell firmly against the face until contact is made with the ejector.

During proper ejection, the spent casing is pushed up and to the right out of the ejection port, before the slide can make contact with the shell.

If the spent casing hits the ejector while not under proper tension, the shell wants to go more forward / upward than to the right, and gets hit by the recoiling slide causing the shell to go backwards, forwards, left, stovepipe, etc. depending on how many surfaces it hits before exiting.

The Apex extractors, spring and a non-loaded chamber indicator bearing are great starting points to obtaining proper extracting / ejection.

1911's need tuning to eject properly. It is a commonly accepted practice and skill.

So do some Glocks. Glock needs to quit hiding from this problem and actually do something about it. It has been going on for way too long.

I have a couple Glocks that have ejected poorly right out of the box. Others in my collection will throw every shell into a bucket all day long.

It is annoying and potentially dangerous if these guns are carried.

I had at one time 3 g19's and a g26

3 of 4 shot btf.
Some even ejected to the left.

A few of these guns started after the first few 100 rds. I cleaned the insides, did the apex thing and it kept doing it.

After that I never carried these again.
I'm down to one g19.

I've since traded them for xd mod2's
And an xds. They have better triggers out of the box and better ergonomics for me. Not everyone, but I like them.

I'm never buying another Glock. Gaston will never get another dime from me. I even called Glock and an arrogant rep told me I was holding the gun wrong. He said I could send it in but they won't find anything wrong. I told him my other guns don't do that. I wanted to tell him to go ...

The first two Gen 4 Glocks I bought, both Model 19s bought several months apart in 2012, had severe and consistent BTF from the very first magazine in each. That's what led me to this Glock Talk forum, looking for a fix. Some were good logical suggestions and some were the normal "it's yer grip" crap. I tried a bunch of them, but nothing helped even a little bit.

Amazingly, one poster even said if the gun feeds, fires and ejects the empty it was doing its job and there was nothing to worry about. Can you believe that? A gun that pounds my shooting glasses and forehead with 6-8 hot empties in each magazine is doing its job.

No it isn't. I don't wear shooting glasses all the time while carrying concealed. I don't wear shooting glasses to bed with one of those G19s on my night stand for home defense. A gun that could put you eye out on the first shot when used for self-defense is not doing its job.

I won't go into the frustrating and time consuming process to find a fix. I've detailed that in a past post. I did finally learn about the Apex Glock Failure Resistant Extractor kit here on Glock Talk. As a last resort, before shedding myself of both G19s, I tried the Apex. It was an instant fix for both. Now each has 2K+ rounds through them without a single hot empty in the face. They shoot like all my other Glocks have in the past, which is to say reliably.

By the way, the two G43s and G42 I bought last summer haven't hit me with a hot empty even once.

Because I had such a hard time with my BTF problem I follow any of these type threads on shooting forums that I frequent. The Apex extractor kit doesn't fix all the BTF Glocks I have read about, but it fixes a lot of them.

OP, good luck in finding a fix for you Glock.
