Pretty good deal! if I were looking for something in that size range id grab one(looking for a full size right now though) thats gotten pretty good reviews from what ive seen. Id take a chance also as you said for the $$$. The taurus bashers will be along any minute..but so far for me ..im ok with them as ive owned several..so have friends...and so far none have been "bad" or had to go back for repairs/service.

Im sorry.

I only say that because i bought that same gun NIB and didnt get 50 rounds downrange before it broke. Sent it back and when it was returned i didnt even open the package until i was at the LGS where i sold it. Bought a G30SF and never looked back.

Like I said, for the price, I will take a chance. Besides, they have a lifetime warranty so I'm not too worried. If it breaks I will just get it fixed and then get rid of it, just like what you did. The only difference is I wouldn't get a Glock 30. The one I had was like carrying a freaking brick! :) LOL

View attachment 316290 I have a Taurus 709 slim. About 500 rds through the gun. It has been reliable, had a couple ftf the first 25 rds. Totally reliable after that. Mag was very stiff when new. Gun is very accurate. This group was fired at a fairly quick pace, about the same speed as I shoot the plate rack at a GSSF match. I was pleasantly surprised.
A better track record than a Glock 19 I used to own.

That's one of my favorites. 12+1 rounds in a very compact package. I have put 100's of rounds downrange without any problem. I find it accurate and comfortable. I like the safety and the loaded chamber indicator. With a little filing (on the sight), a Glock night site will fit on the front. The rear sight is adjustable.

I think it is a very good value.

There is an old thread here that discussed that gun in great detail.

Tom, I've read and enjoyed many threads here about guns made by various manufacturers--along with some other random topics that have nothing to do with firearms in other forums. This is the "General Firearms Forum."

I consider myself still a newbie here; this is your first message? (The OP joined in 2006.) I've found these folks to be generally very welcoming even to Taurus owners!

I'm mostly a revolver fan (weak hands) myself, but I like Glocks and other brands, too. The OP was not out of line to post about a Taurus.

Got mine for 199.00 shipped free...
Taurus reputation is spotty but they have gotten much better the past few years... I have owned many of them with mostly positive results.... These new PT111 G2 are awesome models... Myself and several friends have owned them for a while now with excellent results... So far not one failure of any kind and very accurate too.... I also own a PT709 Slim which has been just as accurate and reliable as the PT111.

I bought one to replace my Glock 26, a gun I never felt comfortable shooting (small grip/big hands, uncomfortable back-strap area, heavy recoil). I am very pleased with the PT111. Maybe 300 rounds through it and no FTF's or other problems of any kind. I paid more, $300 for the stainless model, but I purchased it from my local gun store so that $300 was all inclusive except for sales tax.

I really appreciate having a gun store 5 miles from my house. To me it's worth the extra 20% to buy there and help keep his doors open (plus he throws me a lot of freebies and swag), and I have a place to go for coffee and bullsh*t.

I carry a Glock 19 for EDC in a Galco shoulder harness but sometimes I just put the PT111 in a pocket holster in my pocket and go about my errands.

Gregg,

Same here bud. I bought mine at a local shop with TX and everything out the door for 268.00. Mines not stainless though. I like the old fella that runs the shop and I too enjoy the coffee conversations.

I have owned the same Taurus gun, put several hundred rounds through it and yet to have had any issues. I also have the Glock 36 and a Bond 45 derringer. I prefer the Glock and carry it more, but do like all 3 weapons. My Brother has a Taurus revolver and broke the handle, sent it back and within a week it was back good as new.

New member, first post. My wife bought the G2, after much research. Have to say I really like it, and so far its been reliable after about 300 rounds. I'll probably pick one up if I don't find a G26 or G27 first. The G2 is very "Glock like" and has great ergonomics. It's a great value with nice features like adjustable rear sight and polished feed ramp. She wanted a gun with a safety, but it's also small enough to be ignored, if one chooses to. Great reviews all over the net on this one. IMHO, you did good!

I owned one of the original Millennium Pro's in 40, it was actually a nice little pistol, good size, good ergonomics, reliable. What I couldn't get used to was the TERRIBLE trigger, gritty, heavy, and long. I wasn't willing to try and learn a trigger that was so terrible, so I sold the gun. Taurus has rightfully earned their reputation for QC, but I certainly wouldn't fault a person for taking a chance on one for the price, especially if it's all you could afford.

The trigger on my PT111 G2 is quite smooth. SA there is a slight click as it nears the break point which I like as it prepares me for the shot. DA it's very smooth throughout the pull.

I test handgun accuracy at 10 yards. I can easily and quickly get a full mag within a 4 inch circle. 10 Yards covers any distance in my home and the 21 foot danger area out in the world....... :)

I have had far worse triggers on far more expensive handguns.

I've been pretty rough on Taurus and I'm sure it's not all deserved. The old PT92(?) I had in the early '80's was accurate enough and totally reliable. I couldn't have asked for more at the time.
A few weeks ago I spent some time, about 1/2 day, shooting a friend's PT111. I can't fault the pistol one bit. It was comfortable to shoot, accurate,(way more than me) and functioned 100%. If they were all like that I'd already have one. Heck, if Bud's doesn't raise their prices on them soon I MAY have to have one.
Good luck gunguru and keep us posted.

The PT92 is certainly the best auto Taurus builds.

I have one. I really want to like this gun. Feels good in the hand, good balance, adjustable sights good grips. The problem is that I can't get 50 rounds in it without a bunch of FTE. I sent it back to the factory. If it still malfunctions, I'm selling it and getting a LEO trade in G26 or 27.

I think you'll be happy with it. Buddy of mine has one, it shoots very well. Not a lick of trouble with it. I have a Taurus PT709 Slim and a Taurus revolver. Both have been very good guns.

Don't let the naysayers detract you. As with ANY gun, break it in , find out what ammo it prefers, then enjoy.
