Are there Glock armorers available at every GSSF competition?

I have a few questions on my G30 about not being able to rack the slide under certain conditions....

Most of the time with 8 or 9 rounds in the mag and one in the chamber I can't rack the slide.

You don't say. if thats your best answer that's why I need a factory armorer.

The G30 series of pistols are difficult to rack with a fully or nearly fully loaded magazine because of the extreme pressure of the ammo against the slide. Just as that 10th round is difficult to load into the magazine. Why are you manually racking the slide while a round is in the chamber?

About all the factory armorer can do for you is replace the recoil spring, which might make it even more difficult for you to rack the slide with no round in the chamber.

I have been a Certified Glock Armorer since 1997 and re-certify every 3 years.

I've had 3 G30 pistols. All purchased new.. Never had this problem before. that's why your answer doesn't make sense to me.

Well, if the match armorer disagrees with my diagnosis then I shall apologize to you. If he does agree, than you may apologize to me. Please update after you see the amorer.

Again, why are you racking the slide while a round is chambered and a loaded magazine is in the pistol?

You are totally ignoring the fact that it wasn't an issue with my 3 previous G30s.

This is why I want to talk to a Glock Armorer in person. That's all I asked for. Not all this static.

Tapping the bottom of the magazine and racking the slide to eject a possible dud round is a basic remedy for a semi auto pistol which fails to fire. I thought that was obvious to everyone here.

I have been able to do this with every single semi auto pistol I've owned, except this one.

I understand your problem exactly as mine does the same thing. Every 30S I have seen does not like 10 rounds in the magazine. For some reason Glock made the magazine about 1/8" too shallow. If I put one in the chamber and then insert a full magazine of 10, I can hardly get it to seat. I've even watched a seasoned Master shooter have jamming problems when shooting the plates with 11 rounds. The 13 round mags made for the 21 don't have this problem. If I lock the slide back and insert a full magazine of 10 and drop the slide I don't have any trouble. I've decided not to fight it. Some people say their mags work better if they leave them fully loaded for a few months.
The new Pearce +1 extensions should alleviate this.

This happens even with 8-9 rounds in the 10 rd magazine.

Something else you may want to check, disassemble you mags and see if there is any loose flashing form the molding process near the bottom. Clean them up with an Xacto or some kind of razor blade. I had issues with several of my 10 round G30 mags where you could not load the 10th round to save your life no matter what loading tool you used. I cleaned the flashing as noted and then could load 10 rounds with relative ease. I only mention this because if 8 or 9 rounds are tight in the mag it may be binding the slide as previously noted. The plastic flashing and solution is a fairly commonly noted issue in the General Glocking forum.

Thank you. I will look into that.

My experience with a few magazines in sub-compacts has been that a fully loaded magazine is so tight against that shiny "stripper wedge" in the slide that it will not have enough room to be pulled back over the top round in the magazine. It makes racking the slide very difficult. Doesn't matter if there's a round in the chamber or not. Sometimes it's so tight that even the force of recoil will not push the slide back all the way.

I have disassembled the mag, and found obstructions (like plastic burrs on the follower or bottom plate) that obstruct the spring from being compressed all the way. Other times I just download by one or insert the mag with the slide back (same thing) and then release the slide. If you can't compress the top round manually, chances are the slide will not be able to either.
