Why are 5lb. and 8lb. stock OEM connectors $5.00 and 3.5 lb. connectors $25.00?
I know the answer but I don't like being ripped off. It is the same piece of metal.
Also why will Glock not sell these even with a serial number for a G34 or 35 to a non Glock armorer?
I have broken/damaged a few trying to modify them. Anyone have a method they can share.
I have been shooting Glocks for about 25 years and competition for 20. Back in the Dark Ages before internet and a source for trigger mods [parts] we were convinced by the dominate 1911 shooters that our Glocks were inferior, mainly because of the horrendous 5lb. pull. We filed and honed/polished and even completely removed the drop safety for not much improvement.
I purchased a G24 in 95 and what joy with the 3.5 [aka] 4.5lb. competition trigger. I now only feel comfortable with this trigger and a little polishing. Tried all the spring combinations possible.
I have a Gen4 G22 that I have left stock to try to learn an old dog new tricks. An't happening. All my Glocks have them except it and my G40.
So my quest to find a 3.5lb. connector and now I need two for $52.00 plus ship. I might understand a premium up charge, but $20.00 is simply gouging for profit sake.
If it is lawyers preventing Glock from selling them directly to the consumer why do they sell them as stock equipment in the long slide competition models.
danbocog, I've played with lots of different companies (Lonewolf, Ghost etc) connectors but have kept mostly stock. I only have the lighter Glock connector in my 17L because that's how it came. So, I may have been shooting as long as you have but no where near the experience with Glock that you have.
Hey Dave.1 I have done business with GlockParts in the past and am familiar with most of the after market Glock part companies.
I want an OEM Glock part because I shoot GSSF matches and this part is legal even if your particular model was not originally equipped. Trying to stay true to the concept of no mods that give an unfair advantage.
The mods that I have tried on the stock 5lb. connector is to file the [ear] of the connector to a steeper angle and bending the [leg]. All which will ultimately lead to failure of the part.
My Gen2 G22 has the Ghost connector, 6lb. trigger spring, 4lb. striker spring, 25 cent trigger job and over 60,000 rounds by my guesstimate. It has a Lyman electronic gauge pull of 2lbs. 7oz. and no over travel.

danbocog, you're probably way ahead of me on this but I'll ask anyway. Have you tried heat and then re hardening of the connector when bending?
With the exception of setting up a Ghost with overtravel tab, the only experience I have with a tuned connector is a Vanek. Since they're Glock parts they're legal for GSSF but way more than I would want to spend.
The Vanek triggers even though standard Glock parts have an altered geometry of the trigger and the ones I have seen also incorporate a different trigger [shoe]. These I believe are only legal in the unlimited class.
I have a dremel and can polish my own parts as well as Vanek. I would not pay a 100.00 for that service either.
Any Glock Armorers out there that can get the connectors and sell them at a fair price?
Per the rules in the Glock Report

Even as an armorer I can't buy minus (4.5#) connectors directly from Glock. This goes back to Glock's focus on law enforcement over the civilian market. The reduced weight connector is a restricted part for LE and requires a signed letter for LE departments to acquire them.
However, as a spare part, they are the same price as the other connectors from Glock.
Glock does not sell any part that requires removing the pins from the gun directly to non-armorer end users. They sell through dealers who are supposed to have armorers on staff. They haven't figured out the whole internet thing

This is no longer true - Glock Certified Armorers can now buy the "-" connector if they are replacing it in a gun that came with it (like G34, G35, etc). There is a new parts list on line adn you must include teh Model # / SERNO of the gun. But you can buy it! Still doesn't allow you to put one on your G17 for competition.
wlkjr, I think you misunderstood the meaning of my original post. The unreasonable price of a Glock part obtained from Glock and sold thru numerous after market vendors.
The modifications that I attempted on the 5lb. connectors are for range use and the gun games I play that the mod is not in violation of the rules.
I stated in my second post that I wanted the OEM parts to comply with GSSF rules. Since you have access to the rule book please note that in the stock divisions that any part that has every been available from Glock they are allowed. Polishing of internal parts if they do not create a unsafe firearm are also allowed.
I have 4 or 5 Glock minus connectors in my parts box ( will have to check to see how many)
One or two have been used but like new.
I don't use them and would be willing to part with them.
Make offers !
Thanks mtstream for the price list. I have downloaded the non Glock armorer forms several times and ready to mail for miscellaneous springs, mag extensions etc. It is the 4.5lb connector that sent me looking at Glock part distributors and caused my rant on price gouging dealers. I have a half dozen or so in other Glocks so I will just switch them as necessary.
Glock does sell most if not all the non-armorer parts online through www.store.teamglock.com. You may find shipping a lot faster through there than faxing/mailing in the order form. It takes Glock weeks to ship armorer orders sent in via the form.
Mine is a Blue label also - via GSSF. Had no problem with the order for a replacement connector. I believe any 34 - Blue Label or not - comes with a "-" connector. I suppose a department could order them with a different set up if they wanted. Don't know if Glock would track that.
Per the Glock website the trigger pull on a G34 is 4.5# (i.e. a "-" connector). I believe all G35/G35 come with "-" connectors. What is in yours now? Was it ordered by a Dept or purchased by you?
Then why did my blue labelG40 {aka G20 long side } not come with a minus connector?
A somewhat related question, are all slide stop levers for all frame sizes the same except the G42 and 43?
1. Blue label Gen4 34 & 35 come with dot connectors, red label comes with minus
2. While Glock has shipped a minus connector to me in the past, my last order resulted in a phone call from Glock and told they can't be shipped without an agency letter. This was also the first time Glock required a Gen4 serial number from me for a dot connector (which the form now says is required).
3. I just checked the new order form, minus connectors (p/n 721) are still restricted - they haven't changed the language on the order form for submitting a serial number for a minus connector gun. I think doing so may work but the form does NOT indicate that.
I used a GSSF discount certificate to buy a blue label Gen 4 35 and it did come with a dot connector. I went by Glock Mecca in Smyrna and the armorer swapped it out with a minus connector free of charge. I suspect they would do it for you at a GSSF event too.
Not too long ago, I paid a total of $18.75 for a "Glock OEM Factory Minus 3.5 Lb Trigger Connector SP00721" from a vendor at eBay...With that connector installed, and a little polishing of parts, the trigger-pull on my G21-2 is now VERY nice, light, & smooth.
