Give it a try in USPSA.
I love mine and much prefer it over anything else I have.

Aside from watching the YouTube dudenal fumble-fart the first reload, :whistling: ... (yeah, his shooting was otherwise creditable), I'm still not seeing anything that indicates why he'd have done worse - time-wise or accuracy-wise - with a Glock 21. :headscratch:

Thanks for the complement. A lite primer strike out of the box never helps. This is my second year shooing USPSA. Once I used. G 17, did better, but not as much fun. I'm not claiming to be anything special, it's more fun to use a smaller pistol, especially for large matches. I shot one this year that was a 400 round match. The G 36 is certainly up to the task if you can carry the mags.

Mine is from the first year of production. I bought it new and still have it and carry it fairly regularly. It has been amazingly reliable and shoots well. It has thousands of rounds through it and always works. I've only replaced the recoil spring. A terrific gun ... but not for everyone.

Picked up a GLOCK 36 this week
Ran 65 rounds through it today and it is a great shooter and fun to shoot. I've been wanting one for a while, I have had 2 different GLOCK 30's in the past they are great but a lil big for summer carry for my preferences.
Very happy with it so far and looking forward to putting more rounds down range, if you are on the fence about getting one and like 45acp I say go for it.

Nice.

Wonder what the availability is on the smooth snout (sans AR) Mdl..

Never could figure out why they would add an AR on a dedicated CCW, anyway.

Tits-on-a-Boar-Hog ta me.

Yes. Of all of the things that could go to improve the G36, this is what they come up with. How about extending the grip, and giving us a flush fitting magazine. I will always say this, who ever looked at the current design and said "that looks good" should be slapped.

Yeah, I thought you shot that event very well. That's why I mentioned the higher capacity G21, since assuming the same level of hits (accuracy), you'd be reloading less, thereby yielding faster times.
I think that no one would disagree with you in this. And for more than the reloading reasoning. Under these conditions the G21 would offer less reloading, longer sight radius, less recoil, better grips, and faster follow-up shots. Yes I would be a rock star (maybe no). Imagine what could be done with a G41. However, like Nutter, I love the G36. I have two. I have 15 magazines. I have more holsters than my wife has shoes. Have you ever been such a fan of a firearm that you would own two. It's crazy I'm telling you.

I completely get it. I have more than 15 mags for my g36 and am trying to buy a second gun. I had three g43's, but I traded one off but am keeping no less than two.

If you find a gun you like, stick with it!!!

Good for you!

Since I started to practice "Tactical Reload", the OEM mag design has become more appealing.

The knob makes the mag very easy to orient, and very secure in the "fork", greatly reducing the chances of a foul-up.

Spend time-outs cycling mags for a few Sundays, and you might agree.

Like Lockback, our G36 is a very early one. Ours has been flawless in reliability and plenty accurate. We have carried it in complete confidence for years. Our main complaint against it is that the recoil is considerable from such a small light platform launching .45ACP projectiles. We accept this as a cost of doing business, given the G36's virtues.

We agree with Mystro that being "limited" to 6 round mag capacity has never kept us up nights. We think one can hardly do better than the G36 for concealed carry.

We trudge on.

You think the recoil is "considerable" in the 36? Given the smaller lighter XDs 45 a try. It makes the 36 feel like you're shooting a full size gun, but it seems the general consensus on here would be to shrink the 36 to the XDs size or smaller to make it recoil MORE.

There is a fine line between small size and shootibility, and in my opinion, Glock is on that line. Any smaller or lighter would be too much.

My repaired -36 has been my carry preference for about five years, now, and It has never- not once- choked on any ammo I have fed it.

NOTE: The repair was to replace the receiver because a crack developed on the left rear quarter.
Glock tech said the gun had been 'dropped'. I had not dropped it. So?

Dropped from what, your plane?

Ok ...... I'm lost !! This thread is still about the 36 ....right ?
The GLOCK 3.8" Bbl. produces 230 gr./4.5-5" Bbl./Std. pressure performance w/ +P ammo, which is a spec. for me. The G36 is light weight, thin, and flat sided, so it carries very comfortably in a thin leather IWB holster. It is also very precise and controllable to shoot.

The Rhinoplasty makes it even more comfortable and holster-friendly.

I like my36. By the way,I am still waiting to hear the dude's source of "$300" 36s. If that was the case, I'd have several more of these beasts. I did find a 21for $300 at a gun show a few years ago but I've never since run into such a great deal.

Manly a G36 is for surely, ... but "manly" is a relative term. Is the G36 more or less manly than its double-stack sibling, the G21?
Don't own either, so no dog in the fight, just wanted to asked before I hit the gym ... :nsb:

... and then head over to my buddy's house for an afternoon of primo MMA tapes starring Tito Ortiz versus the world.

No, biased gender statements do not define a decision, or should , but often people do.

My decision to buy (3) 30s was for competition in GSSF, and that I could compete in (6) categories the 36 (1). Besides the competitive trigger time vs the 36 was the 1/2 ounce difference in weight unloaded.
The 30s a newer released model, fit to hand acceptable and the ability to load (10) shots especially for a gun game.

Past problems with this single stack were fresh in mind, and issues do seem to crop up now and then, there was no reason to evaluate the 36.

I believe Glock has put effort in models that have interest and sustained viability, if a new Gen of the 36 appears this might show a change of heart.
