A gun shop buddy told me they got a letter from Glock in the last few weeks excluding TSA people from the program. Anyone else heard this or the back story if true?
Once again... I was told, as long as it says "Federal Emergency Response Official" in big red print on the bottom of the cac, I was good. I also believe other agencies such as FEMA are given that as well.
**The key was the BIG RED PRINT lol
I have a co worker who just ordered a BLUE LABEL gen 4 g19 straight from glock a couple of weeks ago, as far as I can tell they are not refusing to take TSA Emergency Response creds.
As a retired LEO, I bought my first Glock under the Blue Label program just last month. I have had others, but not a Blue, mainly because there were no dealers handling them near me. Recently started looking again and found two now, each about 50 miles from me.
I contacted both, one said he had none in stock, the other said I will put you on the list and contact you. About two weeks later, he advised my G19 had come in! I really didn't expect to get one that fast given my former futile efforts. At $425 I now have the Gen 4 19 I have drooled over for a year. Thanks to Fuquay Guns and Gold and Glock.
On the subject, I expect there are a lot of folks who use the Blue Label program to buy and attempt to sell at a profit. I know it's not possible to keep some from doing this. Kinda like the .22 hoarders that started gobbling everything up and selling at scalper prices.
But I too do not see TSA being given this great benefit.
After 9/11 I worked some at an airport. I thought about trying for the TSA at first. They had set up an office and were interviewing and hiring right there. After I saw some of the people they seemed to prefer, and hearing what the job involved, I wanted no part of it.
Recent revelations about how the majority missed dangerous items in baggage and on people, I was not surprised.
I appreciate the fact that Glock has this program, and although I have nothing to do with it, I am glad they do not extend it to people that may cause problems that would kill it for those deserving.
Just my opinion.
Was that $425 out the door? The reason I ask is that the blue label Glock pricing has the weapon at $398. Although the adjustable sights model is approx. $425.
It seems that Glock is awarding those that respond to emergencies and put their safety on the line; not the way I would describe TSA. The recent revelations of TSA is a 90% failure rate at finding contraband. However it is really not all the fault of the TSA workers. No other countries' airport screeners attempts to screen 100% of airport travelers; it's incredibly inefficient and complete waste of time. The end result is what you now see, the workers burn out rapidly, due to the fatigue and the repetitivity of the job. If the powers that be would pay attention to those that fit a terrorist profile and not searching colostomy bags and toddlers diapers, the workers might actually take pride in their work, rather than looking at travelers as the enemy.
I have been to some shops that want to photocopy my credentials and license. I have been to others that don't really care and would sell you 5 blue label in one purchase. I am not surprised to read that TSA is excluded.
There seems to be some confusion as who the "official" Blue Label dealers are. I called Glock with some dealers in my area that were claiming to be blue label dealers and have in fact sold firearms under such program. The Glock representative advised me that the dealers in question were not listed by Glock as Authorized Blue Label dealers. What the non status dealers apparently do is purchase certain Glock models for their qualified customers from the listed dealers and resell them the weapons for a profit, but still below regular discounted prices as listed by the online dealers. To get the best prices, one must deal with a dealer on that rather short Glock list. I live in a major metro area and there is only one dealer on the Glock list.
TSA does not fall under HR218. They are not considered LEOS and no not have any powers of arrest. And with all the Quack TSA agents that thing they are top cops they will most likely never fall under the blue label program.
READ the posts for years now DHS/TSA use their CAC card to purchase................(Federal ID). Whether you like them or not, maybe its a catch 22, but they do.
Just talked to one Officer I know here in Indianapolis (4-7-16), with a brand new BL G-19 and all he had to do was wait two weeks and he got it, with three mags, $398.20 (+) tax from a different local (IND) BL Dealer not just the one they usually use.
The more that I fly, the more I hate the TSA. Seems like another way to waste taxpayer dollars, and make me get to the airport earlier. Seriously is the $4 water I just purchased deadly?? Why do I always get "randomly screened" for explosive residue?? They aren't even stopping anyone or anything.
I'm going to correct a few things in this thread:
1: TSA are emergency response, it's in the red label on the Dept of Homeland security ID.
2: They are under the Dept of Homeland Security
3: They go thru FLETC for their commission and certifications, so yes they a federal academy.
4: They are what stand between Joe Sociopath or John Underwear bomber and your family on a plane. So for all the trash talk, think if you feel safer putting your family on a plane with the screeners there, or a free pass to walk on without screening or the same system that allowed Sept 11th to happen?
TSA was put in place because of the loss of 3000+ on Sept 11th BECAUSE the old system had failed to protect American lives.
Lastly, google what TANG, and Water can be used for. Or Magnesium and Water. Or Glycerin, or peroxide, etc etc etc. Anyone with experience knows why the liquids rule is there. It isn't because it's water... It's because it can be something else in a binary compound OH WHICH HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED TO BE USED SINCE Sept 11th.

I have a neighbor that TSA. He's a flipping idiot that the entire street hates because he is so nuts. We are all anticipating his house being surrounded by SWAT at any time.
They are a sap of tax dollars that could go towards ACTUAL professional security/law enforcement personnel with training and experience that could make a difference.
What was their failure rate on that last threat assessment? 98% failure? ...meaning 98 out of 100 weapons or bomb materials were missed.
Are US air Marshalls considered TSA? Also I believe there is an armed division of TSA, maybe special agents, a little higher on the food chain. I had a positive interaction with one of them while flying armed. "Most" Normal TSA don't exude the professionalism or command presence that" Most" LE, military, Fire and EMS providers do so no discount seems fair.

Federal Air Marshals are an agency under TSA, but are completely seperate from the screening side of TSA. As for the "Armed division", TSA has its own internal affairs and those are special agents. Its a very small office within TSA, but yes, they carry guns and have arrest authority.
Again Mod please Close this thread, TSA officers use their Government Personal Identification Verification (PIV) card at their nearest Blue Label Glock stocking dealers and that's it.
Anything needing to be said here was said sometime in the last 3 years. Now, it's far, far removed from any "valuable information" about Glocks. Locked.
