I just purchased a glock 21sf and I am considering using it for concealed carry. Do many of you carry the 21 and is it difficult to conceal?

To DHART:
Thanks for the feedback.
Why the BOLD print you asked.
From old habits of writing movie scripts and most all the 'Net Sites I worked with, they automatically changed my BOLD to Standard.
Thanks for the info on the S&W Trigger options.

As for "Hair Triggers" of which I have been accustom to over the years in regards to my Glock 19 and a three pounder pull, I use to be in "Quick Draw" competitions back in 1957 when they used real bullets instead of today's blanks and timers.
I held the title for over a month until I got a bit too fast and put a bullet down my entire leg thru the holster.
Back in those days, alot of competitors shot their toes off and shaved off an ankle or two.
After putting a metal deflector on the end of the holster, we began deflecting the lead and hitting our opponent in the leg.
Long story short~~ After over 25 years in SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) and doing trigger jobs down to 1 1/2 pound pull, I ranked up into the professional "Wild West" Gun Fighting reenactments for over 12 years out in Nevada in the 1990's doing shows for the tourist at the famous "Bonanza Ranch" (movie set) at Lake Tahoe. So I'm right at home with a light (and dangerous) trigger pull.
I've done over 20 six gun trigger/hammer jobs for fellow gun fighters as well as rebuilt two 1911 .45 Auto's when I was a Deputy for ten years.
I love the 1911 and altho it's a classic, it's still a relic.
I've carried a pistol for over 55 years in concealment mode in my travels across the states.
I was a guest at an FBI Combat School/Course about 40 years back and we all used the 1911 and I came out number two among 22 FBI students.
Was hoping to open up my own Combat small arms Training school in Houston Texas back in the 1970's but couldn't get a zoning for it. Texas wasn't ready for that back then.
Running out of space... thanks again. ~~ WDT~~

Sasquatch2 I think the threaded barrel and brake are the way to go. I have had good luck with LWD's comp/brake on my Gen4 G21. The 24# spring was a little much with the comp. I got some feed errors due to what I believe was the slide short stroking that I did not get with 20#. If you are just going to run ports or an unported barrel, I would definitely run the 24# spring.
Thank you for the feed back, I'll get the threaded barrel and comp, 20# spring for the .45 Super.

On the subject of drilling those mag G-19 holes bigger for a quick view... we have the problem of removing the floor plate first to remove the spring and follower.

I have never seen any gizmo that helps in the removal of the floor plate.

Here's how I do it: Take a pair of VICE GRIPS.
Then take two NUTS (from machine screws) and take a few strips of masking tape and TAPE the NUTS inside the Vice Grip JAWS on opposite sides. This will form a raised pressure grip.
ADJUST the JAWS to slip over the MAG next to the floor plate in the MIDDLE of the MAG and start adjusting the tension with the NUTS in the CENTER of the MAG.
Lock the vice grip very lightly and gently on the Mag and start turning the screw handle until the pressure buckles the two INSIDE plastic RIBS and then depress the button on the floor plate and push lightly and the plate will slide right off.
Be careful of the spring flying out.

To replace the floor plate... just slide it back on with a little pressure and it will SNAP into place.

This fine thread caused me to get my G21 out of the safe, where it has resided untouched for maybe 10 years. Dang it, that's a fat grip. But for giggles I sprayed it with Break Free, cleaned it up and might grab an aliengear OWB holster to have some fun with it. But yeah, its like grabbing a drain pipe. Now I want to check out the gen 4 flavor.

After this thread revived my interest in my lonely G21, I bought an aliengear OWB holster for it. The gun is still a chunk on the hip at 2 lbs 13 oz. loaded with holster, but it is quite doable if you are committed to the cause. To carry under just a t-shirt, one must recognize that this gun is not truly concealed. Maybe its "concealed" in the legal sense, but an observant eyeball can see that you have a cannon under there.

I think I've had just about all the top brand name and custom made holsters in the past almost 60 years of packing like Bianchi and Galco. (Originally JackAss Leather ).
I've narrowed it down to one Universal holster that's called the "Behind the belt" rig (BTB) that isn't a IWB pain-in-the-butt types that makes you have to buy your pants in an extra size... in this case, your BELT just has to add on an inch or two in length. Alot cheaper in clothing. Six pairs of pants Vs one belt.

It's the GALCO "JakSlide" 202-B.
Fits all Glocks, Sigs, 1911's, Beretta's, M&P Shield or the M&P Compact and can be worn in the appendix position or the 3:00 o'clock with an all day comfortable carry.
Or a Cross-draw if you drive alot and need the weapon to be out-of-the way of the seat belt.

As you get older... some old geezers "down size their auto's from the high capacity to single stacks like the Glock G-43 or the M&P Shield etc.
Out here in the Wild West, the first rule of gun fighting is:
"Don't pick a fight with an old gun fighter, he may not want to fight and he'll just kill ya outright."
