Holy smokes! You stole it! Still, the seller made a decent amount of $ so it's a win win.

I'd be willing to pay $600-$700 for a cherry example like that in a heartbeat.

The (presumably) aftermarket adjustable rear sight would not diminish the value to me. Glock does make their own, maybe one of the forum scholars will know if that was available during Gen 1 days.

Congrats on the gen one G-17.
Way back when I first started with Glocks I picked up an early G-17L, I'm not sure but I know it was either gen 1 or 2 but it was not working right, clean it would shoot fine for 50 rounds, then start to have problems. Back home and cleaned fine for about 50 rounds, then back to jamming. I know now that it was no big deal, and easy to fix. Back then all I had any experience with was 1911's.
I sold it for what I gave for it $400. Now I wish I had kept it but what the heck the guy I sold it to was happy, and I got my money back and was happy, the guy I bought it from was happy.

Some guys have all the luck. If it was mine, I would shoot it a few times before stowing it away. Enjoy and be safe.

Sweet find! One of the hardest parts to find is that original speed loader (doesn't have texture like the current ones), they can go for more than the original box. If you didn't get the original manual, they occasionally show up on eBay for reasonable amounts.

I need one of those boxes! I think the correct storage procedure was to assure that the pistol was completely unloaded then dry fire it before putting it in the box. I guess someone actually put a loaded pistol in one of these "Tupperware" boxes and it went bang. Not sure what thought process was involved in doing that, but.....
