I hate this just as bad if not more than you guys, I promise. However, it is his 1st Amendment right to express himself in this manner.
But, there are consequences for expressing your 1st Amendment rights. You just have to be able to accept those consequences when you spout off and do or say things that people don't like.

I hate football anyway. From the way that it is over-hyped by the zealots as almost a religious experience every time that a game is played to the 24/7/356 attempts to "break it down" everything from the way that they lace their shoes to the way that cars are parked in the lot. Motorcycle helmets, no sleeves on the jerseys and bicycle shorts do nothing to enhance my opinion either.

United States Code, 36 U.S.C. § 301, states that during a rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart; Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present and not in uniform may render the military salute; men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed. Military law requires all vehicles on the installation to stop when the song is played and all individuals outside to stand at attention and face the direction of the music and either salute, in uniform, or place the right hand over the heart, if out of uniform. A law passed in 2008 allows military veterans to salute out of uniform, as well.[48][49]

However, this statutory suggestion does not have any penalty associated with violations. 36 U.S.C. § 301 This behavioral requirement for the national anthem is subject to the same First Amendment controversies that surround the Pledge of Allegiance.[50] For example, Jehovah's Witnesses do not sing the national anthem, though they are taught that standing is an "ethical decision" that individual believers must make based on their "conscience."[51][52][53]

I agree and I am sure the supreme court has struck it down like they did flag code rules that you can not burn or desecrate the flag. He has every right to not stand for the pledge and will face no penalty from the government. The league, team owner, coach, fans, etc. are not the government and can take whatever action they wish that is legal.

The more I hear from him and the more I hear about his declining performance, I am beginning to think this is all a cover for yelling "racism" when he does not get starting QB position.

The market is giving him his payment for the comments he has and continues to make.

I do find this amusing, although I doubt he will have the courage to take up the offers:

He has a right to protest, which does not guarantee him a safe zone where people can't use mean words and hurt his feelings.

He is from the area I live in .He does give back to the community has a camp for kids with heart problem his parents had several kids die of heart problems . Seems to be a real stand up nice guy always doing stuff for sick then this BS comes up .The town he grew up in is about as milk toast as can be it is not the mean streets of Compton or anything . Sad to see he is influenced by the garbage he plays with
Yeah, well, that's real nice, in my eyes he spent all of his "cool points" or "good karma" pretty damn cheap, if you ask me. Spent them right down to zero...
The problem is, is yes, he has that right, that's what we ensure, even (maybe especially) BS moves like that.
I suppose their games will be just as well attended as they were before this crap, 'cause Oh Lordy NO, we couldn't not go to a damn football game now, could we? Oh hell no, it's not worth all that now!...

The question is, will officers there give up the lucrative overtime to make a statement? Will they be forced to work a detail as part of community safety demands (think that singer issue back east)?

Dozens of officers and deputies have been let go from their organizations for doing similar acts or expressing distasteful speech. Will the 49ers have the stomach to do the same, especially since the offensive speech and acts were done on their property?

SCPD and Levi stadium is interesting because they use officers from all over to be reserves for them just for the games and concerts. They get paid about $50 an hour to do it. That is about top step non OT pay for us. One of our guys makes it worth his while by taking every game day off so he gets paid vacation plus the 50 an hour. It would not be worth it to me because their WC is some Aflac kind of thing and it would not be able to compensate you if you get a career ending injury. Your primary job would consider it about the same as blowing out your knee skiing. They could very well cut you loose after a long recovery on partial disability vs full pay if it was with your primary job.

I thought of doing it but decided against it. Too much trying to work around schedules and not enough compensation if I get hurt.

If I want OT I can just pull over anything that moves on swings and spend hours with a DUI arrest or work a busy beat on days. Getting paid 75 an hour and being covered with WC should anything happens.

When they dont get enough officers to sign up for off duty at our NFL stadium, they pull on duty for the traffic positions. I would imagine it would be the same there.
From what it sounds like if the paid reserves bail to their home agencies the SCPD people will be ordered on OT to fill it. The city might have to pay SCSO to fill anything left over. Back in the SJPD could have helped fill in but they are ****ed with just taking calls for service.

The NFL is reporting records sales of Colin's Official Jerserys. As Gomer Pyle would say "Surprise, Surprise".
