I like my glocks, but what is up with 6rd mags? Great for concealment, but when is glock going to come out with 1 and 2 rd extended magazines for the 42,43,36? The aftermarket solutions, in my opinion, are poor at best. The M&P Shield, Xds, Kahr and practically everyone except Glock that has a single stack, has extended mags. How about it? Bout time to step it up!
Just hold what you've got. Before long, everything will be capped at 6 rounds. Kind of a nationwide 6-round neutral. Just think of it as one big revolver stage.
For years we carried a G26 (or G19 or G17) giving us lots of rounds but we needed a 6 round pocket gun for when we requiref even more concealment?
Now, you want to engineer it backwards?
Tell Santa you want a spare mag for Christmas! Lets see....6 plus 6....nought plus nought...carry the nought...by gum that works out to pert near 12 whopping rounds!
2 spare mags? Well let me cipher that one....that is a total of 19 rounds of 9mm with that itty-bitty gun. Whooo eeee!
so apparently you're a glock kool aid drinker...dont get me wrong- Im a glock guy through and through but no one and no company is perfect...Glock was late to the game to begin with. The G43 is HUGE for what its supposed to be AND THEN it has less rounds than other "ultra subcompact" single stacks. Im in the belief that if I'm sacrificing one thing tactically then I should be gaining in another.
For all intent and purposes the G43 is pretty much the same size as a G36 w/ less power, so whats the point? It is w/ in a 1/4" of a G36 in about all dimensions....yet again my Keltec PF9 is considerably smaller and has more mag capacity....Glock screwed the pooch plain and simple on the 42/43
good question...cuz my "horrible" PF9 which is notably smaller than either of the 42 or 43 has 7+1....just saying...( I can understand the 36 as it is an obviously fatter round).
my disdain being noted... I do wonder why no one makes an extended 10 or 12rd single stack mag for ANY of the single stacks.
Those Pearce +1 extensions are cheap, work well and take about 36 hours to get to my mailbox. They work perfectly. GLOCK should just order up a truckload of them and put them on their magazines. Who'd know?
If Glock markets their Slimline pistols with greater capacity than six rounds, they run the risk of taking away sales from their higher capacity subcompacts. I'm just guessing, but I doubt that they'll do anything to undermine these proven profit builders. Look to the aftermarket, adopt new tactics, or buy a G26/27/33...
Excellent point. When I carry my 43, except when it's in my pocket, I carry it with the Pearce+1 because I prefer a 3-finger grip on it because of how thin it is. That gives me 8 rounds plus a Taran+3 mag as a backup in a pocket. When I had my 26 I liked it with the flush mag, 11 round, and sometimes carried a backup mag. I would give up the 3 rounds for the extra comfort and always carrying a back up.
That said, if I carried the 43 with the flush mag I would still have the 26 because in my mind the 7 v 11 is a lot different than 8 v 11 even though nominally it's 1.
Glock should ship ditch the finger grip extension mag on the 43 and ship it with 2 flush mags like they do the 42.
Im one of those guys that carried a S&W J-frame for many years (and still do sometimes). We trained and practiced until we felt secure with 5 rounds.
If a situation might require more shots a backup gun and/or a 5-round speed loader (or 2) in a jacket pocket seemed to work.
I never have bought into the fairly recent "Spray & Pray" school of self-defense.
If there are enough people asking for it, Im sure someone will sooner or later build a 33-round "clip" for the the pocket Glocks.
Have you tried calling Glock to see what kind of response you get?
Analysis of Five Years of Armed Encounters(482) (With Data Tables) Overall, shots were fired by the defender in 72% of incidents. The average and median number of shots fired was 2. When more than 2 shots were fired, it generally appeared that the defender’s initial response was to fire until empty. It appears that revolver shooters are more likely to empty their guns than autoloader shooters...
Reloading was required in only 3 incidents. One of those involved killing an escaped lion with a .32 caliber revolver, which was eventually successful after 13 shots...
The odds of getting into an SD situation, drawing your firearm, discharging your firearm to stop the threat, and firing more that Six(6) rounds to do it...?
...are only ~ Forty percent (40%) greater than those of ending up a Highway Fatality that same year.
So, wear your seat-belt, go to the range, and carry a spare G36 mag.

you are so right about needing more than 6 rounds and Glocks looks so much better with rounded trigger guards, wish I had the skills and courage to do it to mine.
That's some 1989 thinking right there, good thing you have that 10mm for that "stopping power"
Actually it's the intended size, a single stack 9 which puts it in the same size as the Kahr CM9 and Ruger LC9s. The Shield and PPS are single stack 40s that also come in 9 and the XDS is a single stack 45 that also comes in 9 and 40.
You can keep talking about your PF9 but that gun is garbage and everyone knows it.
Except the difference between 9 and 45 with quality hollow points like Federal HSTs is non-existent. So if you're gonna carry a firearm the size of the G36 why not get a G26/27/33 that are either 11 rounds of 9 or 10 rounds of 40/357 versus 7 rounds of 45? The G43 is a signficant size down from the 26. So if you're going to carry 7 rounds of equally effective ammo, why carry the larger gun?
Yes, multiple assailants are seldom experienced, but something I'd like to be ready for. However, if I'm alone (i.e.: without loved ones) I frequently just carry my J-Frame. Tactics can make up for less bullets. Shoot two, 3-5 second rush to cover, shoot two, 3-5 second rush to cover, tactical reload, repeat until out of danger (or cartridges). It will even work in a General Dozier type of situation (5 armed assailants), but the reloads come sooner...
On the other hand, I try to have a higher capacity gun when I have loved ones in tow. They never seem to be looking for exits or cover...

people can fool themselves all they like, Its not equally effective ammo...it may perform similarly from the muzzle unobstructed to flesh, but not when it comes to penetrating barriers....but hey, what do I know...
THATS RIGHT!!!! I forgot, every bad guy just stands in the open and lets you shoot them, just like at the range....my bad...
have you actually seen what 9mm does and doesn't do to actual people? on the scene, up close, real time???
Oddly enough, people almost never say that they trust the government -- especially gun people. Yet, the FBI says that 9mm is as good as .40 and .45; and everyone parrots it as gospel. Where is the conspiracy, anti-government talk?
hmm, not sure...but the FBI doesn't want to prosecute corrupt and treasonous govt officials, so I guess they don't want to actually put threats down too...
...oh please, lets be real. We are in a society that rather than requiring someone to achieve is constantly lowering the standard, and sometimes to accommodate people who shouldn't be in a field of work. So the FBI harnessing the 9mm- c'mon, obvious
The FBI's decision to use the 9mm was based solely on capacity as they determined 9, 40, and 45 are equally effective with modern hollow points. If you want REAL stopping power get a rifle or shotgun.
got em...and not only do i have them, I have multiples and plenty of mags, so that way my other and i can crossroad mags...know why? because I don't theorize and pontificate about weapons and tactics, Ive actually used them for real...
so if the FBI did it SOLELY for capacity, then why not rifles/ 30rds is way more than 15 or 17? or submachine guns?
Actually there could be a sensible reason. Before the new move to 9mm, when they issued (.40?). Any agents that went to the middle east or deployed OCONUS alongside the military they had to be issued 9mm for the theater....so now they don't have that issue
Lol Nutter, do you have that on a text file on your desktop to copy-paste when a caliber war starts?
I'm picking up a 1911 this weekend for some good ole .45 fun. I don't think I'll pick up a G36 for carrying but I feel a .45 Glock is in my future after a G20
by the way, another recent thread here stated that "the data" shows that the most hardened giants will likely shiver an run at the mere site of a weapon, so no need for it to be loaded...are you leaving your mags at home now?
There is a guy on youtube (search "Active Self Protection") who puts up videos daily of CCTV incidents. I suggest everyone who feels comfortable with their capacity based on gut feelings and statistics and the like check out the videos of real life shooting incidents. It just might change your mind... and if it doesn't, you should at least learn a little about the differences between statistics on a page and what happens in real life.
Three things are painfully obvious from watching those incidents... (1) human beings can be real pieces of garbage and Brazil is one screwed up place, (2) more ammo = more gooder, and (3) if you expect a bad guy to stop attacking and drop like a rock after being shot (with a non-headshot) then you are wildly mistaken. Warning... some of the videos are quite disturbing.
I don't buy into the FBI "Findings," but believe it's an advantage to have the max reasonable ammo load out when carrying. I carry a Glock 27 with a Glock 23 mag reload. I don't care much for statistics either.

I find it interesting that a semi auto with six rounds in inadequate, but a revolver with only 5 or 6 can be the ultimate carry weapon. I don't use modified mags or aftermarket mags for any of my carry guns. If I don't consider 6 rounds appropriate at the time, I just opt for something with more capacity, in which case, I can go up to 17 rounds in a mag if we're just talking about Glocks.

an issue w/ the word or concept of tactical? Why do we carry? For aesthetics?
