Hey Everybody,
I'm new to the forum and would like to know-

-What's the most accurate Glock configuration?

-Of all your Glocks do you have one that can wear out a steel plate or IDPA silhouette at 100 Yards or greater?

I'm sure many of you compete and hand load and even gunsmith so...

-I'd like to keep it relatively stock (not looking to build a race gun) but want a relatively factory stock gun (a few mods are ok) that I could carry if I wanted to. Everyday practicality and laser accuracy are my objectives.

I've read in a gun magazine that the Glock 17 is capable of killing small deer at 80 yards with good ammo like Hornady.

So...
The gun would Likely have a lighter trigger than factory, most precise but reliable sights, and some hand loads or really decent factory ammo like Hornady, Black Hills, Etc.

-I want this thing to group tight like a Les Baer, tuned Colt 1911, HK Mark23, or even a Sig P210. Laser accurate and flat shooting.

I'd consider a .45 but my best guess is the 9mm and .357 sig will have that flat trajectory to be accurate at 100 yards. I keep an open mind so maybe some .45acp shooters are tuning Glock 21s to be as accurate as Les Baers. I say 9mm and 357 sig because ballistics charts show they are very flat shooting rounds.

-I want this thing when modded up to outshine tuned 1911s in accuracy.

I believe Gastons creation is capable.

Thanks

"How many times have we shot 3 times and have the holes cut just to drop the 4th 2" under, over, or to the side of the ragged hole? I've done it more than a few." (Sorry, seem to be having trouble getting that to quote properly)

And the assumption is that it's the shooter, right? But I recently debugged a problem where maybe 1 shot in 10 would be a flyer with plated bullets, but 0 shots in 10 with coated bullets. So the core group was let's say 1.5" with the occasional flyer out 4 inches or so with plated and 1.5" with NO flyers with the coated.

That's the kind of accuracy I'm talking about, and what you would need to hunt (ethically). And unless you shoot big groups and are either a remarkably consistent shooter or use some kind of really reliable rest it's hard to know if flyers are really the gun or the ammo or what.

PS I haven't bought xTreme bullets since.

I think it depends on whether it's rested shots or off hand, and the rest would need to be a Ransom type that takes out all human error. Off hand, there's just no way to know if that 1 shot in 10 was ammo, gun or shooter. My speculate is most often the shooter.

Obviously, this wasn't a Ransom rest, but it helps take out a lot of human error, long as you can see good enough to sight each shot. That dude shot that group at 7yds and it appears to be between .75 and 1". Not really a true test of accuracy because 1" at 7yds = about 7" at 50yds. That group at 50 yds would be impressive for a Glock.

This dude has a 'true' flyer that was obviously ammo related, in the 50 yd test. That 1.3" group could have been under an inch if not for that one that drifted to the right. The 100yd group is just as impressive and shows supreme accuracy with gun and ammo.

I own a couple of CZ's, they are held in pretty high regard for being accurate pistols.
I think I am a pretty reasonable shot and I am happy if I group my shots within 4 inches at 25 yards (at best) freehand.
At 100 yards I would be pleased if I hit the target at all.
I need to get my Eyes lasered.

This guy who's the son of the owner of one of my favorite gun shops/ranges wins competitions there all the time with a long slide Glock 9mm either a 17L or a 34. They claim it's more accurate than a Sig P226. Beretta 92s and Sig P226s have been very accurate for stock out of the box but I havent tried the 17l or, 34, 40, or 41 so I don't know but for me Sigs and tuned or custom 1911s have been most accurate. I'm sure HKs upper echelon stuff like the Mark 23 is decent too. I've shot a HK USP 45acp side by side a Glock 21 and shot better with the Glock, and the G21 was better for me than the Sig P220 Intried as well (had high hopes for the P220 a lot of people say they're accurate but the groups weren't there for me that day). G21 and 1911s have been my favorite 45s to shoot so far.

Any HK MK23 owners out here?

What do you think?

I would have thought that many models of SIG's, HK's, STI and CZ's are very accurate.
I can only speak from my local knowledge downunder but Beretta's are not considered target guns, they are a rugged service pistol.
Glocks, well built, reliable, simple.
Target guns.............. not what they are built for, really.
I can never understand why people buy a Glock then change the Trigger, Sights and Barrel etc for aftermarket options.
What were you buying it for.

Nice comparison! YOU WIN!

I have seen the 1911 video's before (shot from a ransom rest) compared to who? shooting the Glock a 7 yds! We are talking two completely different things !
I love 1911's as well as most all guns, I thought we was talking useable accuracy not ransom rest , I don't know very many people that could even tell the difference in accuracy between most handguns and the 1911 in that video . I seriously doubt I could do better with that gun from video than I can shoot with my LWD/G21/Ruger adj. sight @ 100 yds
As I said I am a hunter/shooter not a Bullseye shooter, I use Glocks to hunt EVERYTHING that is legal to do so and don't feel under gunned at all! I can head shoot squirrels/ rabbits to 25 yds or so , deer over 60 yds (45 SUPER) all one shot kills and that is good enough for me. If situation was right I have no doubts of making a (1shot) killing shot on deer over 100 yds with any of my Glock 45 SUPER's with proper sights and zeroed for 100yds.

Truth of it is that Glocks are more accurate than probably at least 95% percent of the people shooting them!

My Glocks shoot POA without groups moving and suspect all other do as well, this is where shooter error comes into the equation !
When I get a battery for camera and have time I will post some vids!!

I thought we was talking useable accuracy not ransom rest ,
Well, the OP was asking which Glock rig is most accurate. The best way to determine 'usable' accuracy is with a Ransom rest followed by a rest that makes you sight each shot. In rare cases, as another poster mentioned (may have been you??), a pistol will shoot a better group being sighted each shot verses a Ransom, but that, IMO, is sort of cheating and doesn't tell the full 'mechanical' accuracy story. If your pistol shoots better with each shot sighted verses a Ransom, then it would be said to have better usable accuracy than mechanical accuracy, but without the two comparisons, there is no way to know.

but without the two comparisons, there is no way to know.
As a side note, and I don't know if it's been mentioned, but all the Glocks I've owned all shot similar group sizes from a rest. None were indicative of any outlandish, poor accuracy. I mentioned the G31 cause of it's ability to shoot probably flatter than any other Glock, in stock configuration. Putting a G24, .357 Sig barrel in a G35 would give the flattest shots at 100yds and would be very accurate long as Lone Wolf made the barrel to fit tight, but within specs. Just puttin' that out there.
