Glock trade?

So, would you trade 3 Glock 19's for a basically new Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special?

I am so tempted

Since the Glock 19s could be replaced for $398 I could see jumping on that. I am presuming that getting rid of the G19s would not leave you without an adequate handgun.

My guess is that chances of finding a Les Baer Thunder Ranch in nearly new condition for ~1200 would be pretty slim. It would take about nothing to convince me then.

Just make sure nothing is left to chance and the gun is not stolen and do the trade. Especially if the 1911 is in excellent condition. Enjoy and be safe.

I would not trade the three G19s that I have, and I would love to have Baer TRS. Having a few custom Colt 1911s does influence my answer. And two of my three G19s are Vickers rtf2 models.

Depending on what your G19s are and how you are fixed for excellent 1911s should figure in to your decision.

I don't know where you found someone to trade you a like new Baer for basically $1125 (the cost of three typical used Glocks here at $375 apiece) but if you don't take it I will. Please send me a note with the seller info if you decide you don't want it.

If the Glocks are unique like the frying pan finish that you cannot get easily then I would not. I also had a friend that had a LB that kept throwing brass in his face and he sent it to LB to get fixed. They did not get it fixed and he sold it. I think LBs are overrated and the basis for not making that kind of trade.

Well if that's the case in this trade, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find 3 Glock 19s that throw brass to the face in retaliation. :whistling:

Seriously though, that being said, I have a little experience with this. Once a gun leaves LB's shop, they don't want to know anything about it. They're good guns, but if something is wrong, plan on having someone else fix it.

If I had three Gen 3 G19's, sure I'd go for that. That is two more than I need and I would rather have my Gen2 anyway.

Only if I though I could sell the Les Baer for more than the value of the 3 Glocks. Keep in mind I used to have a Les Baer. Finely fitted? Yes. Perfect finish inside and out? Yes. Accurate? YES!

With that said it's more of a bbq or competition gun than a true defensive weapon IMO. The reason is I feel Glock makes a better defensive 45.

Glocks are so common that I would not mind making the trade. You can always replace a Glock (unless you live in CA), not so much with a Les Baer.

If you're looking for a 1911, you could do a lot worse than a Baer. I have a Premier II and it's my favorite range gun.

Make the trade and if you aren't happy you can always sell it or trade it off for something else - possibly even coming out on the plus side.

If I had 3 19s laying around gathering dust, I would make the trade.
You say the Baer would be for carry, only if I had something else to carry while shooting the Baer to be sure it could be counted on to deliver when needed.
As many glocks as I have had, I have never had one new, or used that went from the box to the holster. As far as that goes no gun has ever been put to use for carry withought going to the range for a thorough shake down.
I bought a New Colt 1911, took it to the range, and straight to my gunsmith. I had already talked to him, and he knew what I wanted done to it. While all this was going on, I was carying my brothers 1911. I was a LEO at the time and had shot it enough to know how it worked. That is the only pistol that went to work without a trip to the range.
