Picked up an ultra rare G17

I haven't been on GT for a while now. Earlier this year I moved over to Glock ID. I'm glad I did because last month I ended up winning the 30th Anniversary Glock ID pistol #19. Unbelievable I got picked out of over 100,000 members. I don't plan on shooting it as it's too much of a collectible. I have other Glock's to shoot instead. One of the other 30th anniversary guns was sold in an auction back in May and went for $35,000! Anyone else on GT win one of the 30? There are a few that haven't been drawn yet, including the GSSF model.

Not sure if I'm going to sell it or not. I'm told it could be worth even more in the future, but who knows. I like to shoot my guns too, but knocking thousands off the value from shooting it isn't worth it to me. My other Glocks shoot the same!

Glock is covering all costs and taxes! Unlike winning a gun at GSSF.

Value of commemorative guns seems to me to be tricky. I have seen some go up and some go down soon after they were released. If I had one and could get five figures for it I would sell it in a heartbeat.

The thing with this one is there are only 30 made, and each of the 30 are different. They each have their own website even. I don't recall Glock ever doing something like this in such a limited run. Still tough to say what it'll be worth in the future.

It's the Glock forum site sponsored by Glock. It part forum, part game. You get points for answering or posting questions.

I am not sure he would at that price but it would be very cool to get his opinion on this as apparently he has both the knowledge and financial acumen to be conversant in this sort of thing.

$35,000? If I had one I would sell it so fast your head would spin.
If I had a Glock 17 that approached 10,000 I would sell it so fast it would speed up whoever's head was already spinning.

Right now, if I had a pistol worth 35K, it wouldn't be mine very long
And for 10,000 for a Glock 17 I would be the guy passing you when you were at work in the no passing zone trying to get to the UPS hub.

Congratulations, I didn't realize they were giving them away yet. I also joined Glock ID although I find it oddly difficult to find anything to do or read there. Perhaps just me being an old guy and not keeping up with the times, probably if I knew their site navigation conventions there would be stuff I was interested in.

I guess I am in the drawing for shooting some matches. If I win a gun worth the price of a pickup truck, I will be driving it, not shooting it.

Hi Ron. Glad to hear you joined Glock ID. There are some good posts on there, although most posts are about ranking up or obtaining Glock ID patches, political stuff, range time reviews, and just off topic stuff. There are many experienced people on there too though, and reviews on products come up, techinal stuff on Glocks, and info on matches. I shoot GSSF, USPSA and IDPA, and have met a few members at matches through Glock ID. My name on Glock ID is also Pilot172.

I looked for the Bac-light earlier hoping to get you into this thread but I could not find it.

Any chance of commenting on the other one of these that sold at auction for 35000?

Seems high enough to me to that had I been a lucky winner I could easily see selling it quickly.

Wonderful score you made! But I'm not buying the other model selling for $35K! After all it is only an engraved Glock in a special case. The basic gun is under $500 here. How do they justify the rest of that money? I know several guys that bought "collector" special edition Colt 1911's only to find out later that they virtually couldn't give them away because of all the bling and engraving and that they built so many of them. The small number produced might help you some. Glocks to me simply aren't collector arms. They are shooters. And if I won that I'd have to stick it away in the safe and look at it once a year, unless one of you have an extra thirty five grand laying around!

If I won a pistol...any pistol that I could convert into a low mileage C6 corvette I'd be happily cruising down the road.
