I sold my Gen 2 G19 and am purchasing a Gen 4 G19. I have owned the Gen 2 for about 10 years. I am Left handed and like the fact I can reverse the mag release, for easier mag dumps. I am excited to get a new Glock and the fact that it is a Gen 4.

I got $350 for the 2nd Gen 2.

That's a fair price, someone got a good gun. Good luck with the new one.

I got a Gen 2 19 last year from the AIM Surplus batch. Now that that itch has been satisfied I will probably ditch it and go back to Gen 4 (or hopefully Gen 5 by then) if and when Glock figures out how to apply a finish to a gun properly.

I really like my Gen 2 19 ...
Had the slide refinished by CCR refinished .. Looks almost newish ....
Theres a fellow at the LGS offering me a hardly used Gen 4 19 with Glock NS ,,,even up .. Im on the fence.... He has been looking for one in really great condition for awhile ..
He has hooked me up on a few deals ...
But a Gen 2 19 in this condition would be a beast to replace !

Refinished slides are easier t come by, and it hurts the value to a "collector".

That's a nice looking gun. I'm really enjoying mine, about a thousand rounds thru mine so far and still very happy with it. 100% reliable and very enjoyable to shoot. All I did was put Glock night sights on it. And a new slide cover plate, can't forget that. Someone had used a tool to remove the original at some point.

I missed out on the AIM G17s due to just having bought the 19, but I get their emails and am keeping my fingers crossed.

I had a really nice 17 and a 22 both Gen 2 's , I had to let them go .... I ran across a new Gen 4 26 with Glock NS and a 41 with NS .. So i had to do some selling to do some buying !!!!
During all of that my Gen 2 21 went in a trade .. But I got it back just a couple of months later in another trade ... Whew !!!
Only Glock Im wanting is a 23 or a 27

As for losing value ,,, maybe to a diehard collectable ?.. maybe ?
But no box .. And the house black finish from CCR is better than anything Glock has ever put out .. And as soon as I get some bills paid off .. All my Glock slides are heading to them for refinishing ... House Black ...even my Gen2 21

OP I hope you enjoy your new one more than your old one.

From what I can tell second generation Glocks seem to have a fair amount of popularity. I wonder if that will change down the road if the 19M makes it out into general distribution.

Picked up my Gen 4 G19 today.

It is a Talo edition, with Red tritium front sight and a plain Black U notch rear sight made by Ameriglow.

Total cost was $584 out the door.

I changed the back strap to medium beavertail, it now fits perfect. The trigger is as good as my Gen 2 G19. With the medium back strap, the gun fits my hand much better. The Red front sight really stands out and is very easy to pick up fast. I am going to shoot it tonight and will post my observations after shooting it.

I was able to put 50 rounds of my reloads through the Gen 4 G19 last night. No problems with any of the loads, I did shoot it to the Right and low (Left handed). All rounds on a 50 foot slow fire Bulls eye target at 50 feet.

I did take the back strap off it and will shoot it soon to see if I can improve my shot placement. I did observe lower recoil from the Gen 4 and it was easy to shoot, it fit my hand well.

The Ameriglo Pro Glow sights gave a great sight picture and were accurate, its just me who needs to improve my shots.

I would never trade my Gen2 19 for a Gen4 19. Heck I can get a new Blue Dot for less then what I've paid for a Gen2. The reason I stick with the Gen2 is the lack of finger groves and the original Tenifer treatment. I'm a lefty but carried Gen2 and 3's for so long I wouldn't change the mag release anyway. I have a Gen4 26 and will get rid of it when I can find an older Gen3 with Tenifer.

Er...you do realize that Glock's Austrian production has never ceased the Tenifer treatment. You will find multiple pages with the Tenifer claim on Glock's European website at http://eu.glock.com .

Anyone who has an Austrian-made Glock has a pistol that was subjected to the Tenifer metal surface treatment process.

Huh, I just sold my FDE framed G19.4 and picked up a real nice G19.2 frame to replace it and build my own 19. I now have 2 G19.2's and 2 G19.3's, which had the fingergrooves removed. I just don't care for the texture or slide finish on the Gen 4's. I'll stick with the 2 & 3's.
