the death of the G36............

I’ve watched several videos on the new M&P Shield .45acp…. and now I’ve held one.

I’ve owned a G36 years ago. But unless the new Shield has some serious teeth cutting issues, it spells the death of the G36. I understand if youre a fan boy of Glock in general, as I am to a point. However, in all honesty I cannot keep my food down and say that the G36 is even close to this new Shield.

YMMV.

I got both the Glock 36 and the Shield 45, they are great pistols, but I think that I will continue carring my shield 9mm, which have given me great service for the past three years, but when the 45 came out I had to get one. Well I got a shield 45 and broke it in with 200 rounds without any problems (I suggest that everyone should be sure that any new pistol will eat at least 200 rounds before you can trust any pistol). On Wednesday, I took both the 9 and 45 and 50 rounds each to the range. At the end of the day, I was able to put my 9mm shots in the black, but the 45 had too much recoil for me-for that quick second shot, I couldn’t keep it on target. So I think that the 9mm will continue to be my EDC and the 45 will be retested later. So the bottom line, to each his own, but I would suggest that you may want to try the 45 Shield before you buy one.
This was my EXACT same experience. My 45 Shield has been flawless but I shoot my 9mm Shield better (which has also been flawless)

Nope.
I wasnt even planning on shooting the shield.
The really smart manager gave me 5 bullets and a rental shield to try on a whim. He new I would like it and that I would buy it.
I had been wanting a .45 but was happy with my G17.
I still want a 30s.
But "smart" for whom?

You didn't shoot the G36, and he sold you what HE wanted to sell.

And now you have a different pistol platform/trigger than your G17, and a shorter than optimum Bbl'ed .45 ACP.

Glad you like it.

Well, he was smart in knowing that I would like it. I was smart for buying it as it does exactly what I want for a fair price.
I still like glocks but they are not the only game in town.
At 7-10 yards it WILL do its job quite well. Why are you so bothered by it?

Glad you like it.

It just lacks objectivity, which is the general vector of this Thread.

And I hope that you are very discerning when it comes to ammo selection , including +P loads, that you expect will do quite well at 7-10 yards, if the work you are referring to is stopping a threat.

Enjoy your new S&W.
