Stag AR opinions

I have a bushmaster patrolman right now that is right handed and I am selling it and getting a Stag 3TL which is currently on layaway so I haven't shot it yet. There is hardly anything on youtube about that model or the 3T. Anyone have a Stag or have an opinion on them?

I have had a 3L for several years with a couple of thousand rounds through it, I have not had any problems with it. Only thing I have mixed feelings about is that the ejection port cover flips up in stead of down a might cause ejection problems with an optic sight with a large knob on the rail attachment.

My brother and I have a few Stag complete rifles and they work and shoot well. Their standard 4140 steel barrels may not be quite as good as preferred 4150 in some cases.

I think there are better rifles for the same price point but you are limited if you want a left handed rifle.

I like my Stag rifle just fine but would not seek one out over other brands. I've bought PSA and Aero Precision lately and am very happy with them.

Stag is made by CMT (Connecticut Machine Tool) which makes AR parts (receivers, BCGs etc) for most every major player in the industry including Colt. They are fine guns. 4140 Ordinance Grade Barrel Steel is used in the barrels of 90% of the guns in existence including many military grade weapons... You won't see a performance difference of any practical utility unless you shoot the thing full auto...a bunch. There is only one tenth of one percent difference in carbon content of the steel between 4140 and 4150. As I said...90% of the modern guns ever produced since the 1920s or so have barrels made from 4140.

Stags are great stuff. Or were, I have no idea about the new Stag. Hopefully they are as good, if not better.
