As I was making plans to down size my hand gun collection. I thought this was a perfect time to get a shot gun. My plan is to trade two, possibly three, Glocks for the Benelli M4. However, I'm not certain which two Glocks to trade.

What two would you part ways with from the following list?

G19
G21
G23
G26
G30
G42
G43

I'm leaning towards the Gen 4's G21 and G26 (or G43).

I'd go w/ the 23 and one of the G40's.
I like the 26 for concealment, I like the 30 for concealment and power, I like the 19 and the 21 as "fighting guns"...depending on how you roll maybe the 19 on the chopping block? I have a 26 and I don't feel the need for a 19, my usual carry is 29, and my fighting gun is the G40- thats how I look at it.

I never considered trading the G23, as it was my go to gun doing the ammo drought a few years back.

Like you, I like the thoughts of keeping the G30 for concealment and power. That's the reason why I bought it. Especially for carrying during the winter months.

As far as fighting guns, I thought about keeping the G23 as my fighting pistol, due to its power and high capacity mags. But, there's something to be said about the G21.

Thanks for your input.... You gave me something to consider...

If I was in your shoes, I would not trade any of my guns and just save the green stamps to get what I wanted. There will be remorse for trading off guns that you will eventually want back again.

But if you really have to, I would suggest letting go these:

Glock 21
Glock 23
Glock 42

The Benelli M4 is an amazing gun. I always wanted one. I even had a Benelli M4 desktop wallpaper on my laptop.

The G42 would be out the door - no need for an over-sized .380 that is barely smaller than your 43. The down side is its low trade value.

I'd probably also dump the Glock 21, because I might carry the 30, but I'd have no use for a full-size .45.

Unfortunately, you live in Illinois, so I'm thinking private sales are a problem. In a state with more freedom, you'd just take the Glocks to the next gun show and sell them for cash, probably before you walk through the door to get in, and you'd get a lot more cash than any dealer would give you in trade value - then you go on into the show and buy a Benelli.

I would definitely keep the G23. With aftermarket barrels (and a 9mm mag), you could shoot 9mm, 40 or 357Sig. Perfect for dealing with shortages.

I'd drop the 30 for sure. Also drop the 19 (it duplicates the 23 with a 9mm barrel). Probably also the 42 (although it does carry very easily).

Did some one tell you that they would trade you already? If not It would take 3 brand new glocks to get any where close to that M5 price tag...I would just keep them all and hold out for a used one. If you trade them in at a shop you are prolly looking at best 300 or less each. You may wipe out your whole collection on that one shotgun.

If I only had to give up two to your choices it would be the 42 and 23. The 42 because the 43 is better and the 23 because the 9mm and 45 perfer better.

I'd not want to trade any of them personally but in the interests of playing along... I say:
G 42, G30,G19

I'd not want to trade b/c you're probably gonna get screwed anyways on the resale value with whomever you're dealing with.. but I digress..

Glock 21 is a good all around HD weapon
Glock 23 is a 19 with a conversion barrel and mags
Glock 26 is best concealmeant/capacity option of the bunch
Glock 43 is a good light slim option for ccw when you want lighter carry the Glock 26

I own all the ones you listed and would probably opt to sell something else and save to get the M4.. It is KICKASS!!

Just a thought...30 can use the 21 mags...26 can use the 19 mags...21 and 19 are outstanding combat handguns...26 and 30 are very concealable.

If you have to get rid of any I might consider the 42, 23 & 43 in that order however, I think I would do whatever I could to keep all of them or part with as few as possible!

No experience with the M-4 Benelli however I have several M-1's and wouldn't trade them for the world!

^^This.

If I could trade two used Glocks for even a nice M2, I'd jump on it. I have two Benelli's now (three if you factor in that my English Springer is named Benelli). I used to have an M4 but sold it in a moment of stupidity. Now I can't touch a used one for what I paid for it new many years ago.

If you know where you can trade two Glocks for an M4, I'd trade 8 Glocks for 4 M4's and sell three of them to buy back all of your Glocks and get some ammo on top of it.

Same here got 2, got an old Nova pump back when they first came out, and a Super Black Eagle II that I got out of one of my better trades ever. A buddy won one brand new in the box at a charity raffle, I gave him 700 bucks and an old browning buckmark 22 pistol I had laying around. Booyah! :)
Greats guns....

I could not agree more! I have sold and traded guns in the past that I could kick myself in the ass for.

I let go of a Wilson CQB, unfired Delta Elite, mint first run OD G17, Benelli M2, and others. I've regretted getting rid of them and have since decided I won't let go of another out of my collection unless it's for a damn good reason.

I will say that I've made some damn good trade deals in the past and can't complain about what I let go of to get what I really wanted.

I want to thank everyone for providing some suggestions, as they were greatly appreciated.

I'm happy to say that I am the proud owner of a new Benelli M4. I decided to part ways with the G26 and G42, as to me, the G43 is the best (and worst) of both worlds between the two of them. I managed to get $700 for them, which, was used towards the purchase of the M4.

The G21 is bad ass to me. I couldn't let go of it and it's little brother (G30). G21 is the night stand pistol, and the G30 is my winter carrying.

The G23 is my favorite Glock. I carry this one more than the others. During the ammo drought when 9mm and .45 rounds were hard to find. I found myself appreciating the .40 round, and training more with the G23 than the others.

The G19 is a never shot gray frame pistol. I like the thought of using the extended magazine and having an lighter alternative to the G23. Unfortunately, I live in Illinois. Therefore, given the asinine gun laws, it's in my best interest to not carry a pistol that have different serial numbers on the frame and barrel. Other than that, I would've never purchased the G19.

Finally, I decided to split the difference between the G26 and G42. I'm able to keep a stronger round with the 9mm with something lighter and smaller than the G26. Unfortunately, I lose the few extra rounds and the ability to use the G17, G19 and 30 round magazines. Overall, it should work out...

Again, thanks!!!!!

glad you made your decision and deal

Why buy a Glock when you can get a Taurus for less money? Why a Taurus when you can get a Hi-Point for less money? Why a Hi-Point when you can get a Jennings / Bryco for less money? Why a Jennings when you can pick up a rock for free?

You make your choice and pay your money. People have different definitions of quality, what is "good enough", and what they are willing to pay for something they want to own.
