The title said it all. I am considering change my EDC from G23 to G29 in order to achieve more stopping power. Thoughts?

My EDC is a G29 Gen4 with a Streamlight TLR1 carried IWB in a KT Mech holster. I carry Sig ammo which is a 180gr bullet going 1200fps (out of a 6" barrel). It is my experience that ammunition hotter than the Sig ammo (i.e. BB) has reliability issues.

I have switched to this due to the increased probability of encountering a Terrorist or Active Shooter armed with a rifle.

It is my belief that an untrained individual can only effectively use a rifle up to 50 or 100 yards. I want 10mm because it still retains significant energy at those distances and I consider it a better choice than a magnum revolver with a short barrel.

I also use/carry a G30 Gen4 at times primarily for practice, but also as an alternative in situations when I consider overpenetration a greater issue.

Yeah, I've thought about the terrorism angle and the cop shootings angle lately and feeling undergunned with my 27 and 23. What If I had been in Baton Rouge and personally witnessed the shooter putting a cop down? Okay, now you know the shooter is a fair target. He's dressed in black. Does he have a vest on? You can't know. If I had cover and had a chance to hit him I'd want something that could break both hips from the side since I'd have to aim for other than the torso. I believe a 200gr XTP or 180gr Federal jacketed soft point from a either my 20 or 29 would penetrate sufficiently since hunters talk about the "Awsome" 10 going through a hog's shoulders and out the other side. My 20 is dead nuts one-hole with Underwood's 180gr XTP (1260fps) and the Federal 180gr JSP. It's just a little larger group with the 200gr Underwood XTP. Even if it's a little harder to conceal I'm about ready to make it my EDC. This world is getting crazy so you have to prepare.

A G29, the way I like to put it is basically a compact, g19 size top end, on a subcompact G26 sized frame. Its similar in overall size to a g19 but its still has that short stubby grip that your pinky hangs off of. If they made a 10mm glock that was the same size gripwise as a g19 I would own one. I decided a g26 would be plenty for carry and I got a g20 for the range.

Plenty if you don't mind ordering off the internet. Most LGSs have it too but they're usually fairly overpriced on it.
I have ordered ammo on the I-net. but the UPS driver just left the package on my doorstep.

They do that here too, but I don't mind no one messes with my packages. Ive left them a note before, I had about 600 dollars worth of computer parts coming and I had then leave the box in my grill...just left a note on the door. So if it's really that much of a problem you can do that, have them leave it at the back door or something. I think you can also change your delivery, I think, once you get a tracking number so they just leave the package at the distribution center and you can pick it up there.

Glock 29 SF with the inexpensive version of Mitch Rosen shoulder holster is a great backpacking gun. Unit sits in a way that doesn't interfere bit when needed is very accessible. I avoid Grizzle territory so the 10mm with Underwood will take care of any surprising situation that might arise.

If you want to achieve more "stopping power", :eek:kie:spend your money on an instructor & practice ammo. Good ammo, good hits, always going to do the job. If you cant shoot the g23 fast& accurate, you'll just miss faster with g29.

I carried one for about a year. Easy to carry, lots of bang! Great carry gun for sure. Carried it in a IWB Kydex holster. Worked like a champ. It now resides in my safe.
