i have a few hundred flawless rounds through my G43. Really love this pistol. I did notice the other day, the dust cover is slightly warped. Anyone else have this issue?
Extremely common on all models of Glock. Personally, I think it looks like crap; but it's highly unlikely to cause any problems. The friction generated is minimal.
That gun is defective and WILL FAIL you!
Step one: Send to me, PM for my shipping address.
Step two: Get a Taurus Slim 709FS 9mm.
Step three: Go forward, don't look back. Ever...
I thought every Glock looked like that! We don't love Glocks for the looks. It's the same with Colt ARs we don't love them for their looks either. I'd rather have an ugly gun that works than a pretty one that might.
What I did to correct mine is to break a tooth pick in half and insert the point ends between the slide and the frame when not in use. The pressure will keep this from happening.
As far as I can tell, it seems like it's something that either occurs or doesn't occur during the manufacturing process so if you have a gun that has a straight dust-cover, it's likely to stay that way (and vice versa). Some people claim that extensive high temperature shooting might cause it to bend, but I have never need a credible source demonstrate that happening. So toothpicks or whatever seem to be unlikely to prevent / cure the problem.
If it bothers you, I've read that a heat gun can help straighten it out. I have also seen people claim boiling water is a no-no because of a chemical reaction between boiling water and polymer. My Glock 19 has it. Maybe if I'm bored one day I might try to straighten it out just for the hell of it. Until that point, it doesn't bother me enough to "fix" it and isn't causing any sort of functioning issues.
It's not a bug... it's a feature. You should sell that one to Glock.
Pretty sure my fairly new 26 does that and also my brand new 20.....not to worry.....continue with your regularly scheduled programming.
