Just read that the FBI is looking for a new weapons platform, in of course 9mm.

Check out this requirement:

C.4.15.a Finger grooves on the frame are not permitted.

Looks like SIG may be finally forced to make some needed changes if they want to get in the game as well.

C.4.8.d The slide stop lever should be designed such that it is unlikely a shooter will inadvertently engage or override the control during normal firing.

I'll throw my limited info in here. A fellow officer just did an instructor re-qual where an FBI SWAT guy there. Now before the BS starts the quals are on a military base where he is stationed and he comes to help and watch. He is an amazing shooter and a great guy.

Anyway,
He informed the group that, from what he was told, the guns will have no finger groves, front cocking serrations and they will be green.

That's all I got so far.

The 19M pic looks great. Obviously, no finger grooves, Glock(?) Night Sights, Extended Slide Lock and 19M logo on slide. I would gladly take three of those right now, no questions asked. But what about the Flared Magwell and Extended Baseplates on the magazines called for in the contract?

It will be... If it's for sale to the feds, it'll be for sale to everyone.. they will mass market the crap out of it... No reason not to... They aren't going to rework everything and then stop for a measly 10k units... They'll want to make their money back because they are most likely giving them away free, or huge discounts, or trades like they normally do for LEA's.

After all we (civilians) are their biggest customer, not law enforcement..

Although I agree with your opinion in most cases, there are people who benefit from this feature.
Example ,my best friend lost his left hand in a machine shop, he had front serrations added to his G-20 .
Reason being he has learned to lodge the gun between a object and his leg/torso and finds that racking from the front of the slide 1 handed is easier than from the rear.
Although there are many ways this can be done when injured or handicapped it works for him.
Best regards Cashgap

-I realize this post is mainly referring to the posted "Photoshopped" picture.

-We're getting closer to hopefully seeing photos of what's actually going to be delivered with some folks posting the deliveries should begin in 8/2016. As far as we know, these pistols aren't "classified" in any way like the fabled stealth-helicopter which was blown up in the Bin Laden raid, so photos should be forthcoming. I still don't understand the news blackout or reasons for any non-disclosure agreement at this point, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to have one (ask Dir. Comey and Hillary C.)

Wait & See Issues:
-from the solicitation reqs, front cocking serrations on the slides aren't required, but the solicitation indicates front serrations are ok to have if for whatever reason the bidder wants to have them on its slides.
-reading the solicitation I suspect Glock's existing magwell and mags already meet the requirements for a flared magwell and mag floorplate extension. We're only talking ~.01" here.
-there is no requirement for an "ambi" slide stop. It mainly requires a standard and an extended, which Glock already had. It requires a left and right-handed person to be able to manipulate the locking the slide back, which has been the case since inception.
-from Post 688, let's see if I understand this, (1) an unknown guy, told (2) an FBI SWAT guy, who was at a requal with (3) a fellow officer of the (4) the author of Post 688, and spoke about:
finger grooves, front cocking serrations, and the color green. From the OP of #688, we're already out to four degrees of rumor.

As written we all can expect there will not be finger grooves; but will it mean there will or won't be front cocking serrations?; and from my understanding both written and aided by personal knowledge, the FBI has already been using three colors of Glock frames depending on the Agents' and Glock guns' assignment.

The solicitation requires black, tan, and green versions for the actual firearms, with red and blue for the two types of training pistols.

Folks, I don't know anything more about the internal stuff of the forthcoming FBI Glocks. I have no insider knowledge and I'm really looking forward to seeing the actual guns' photos or in-person.

Why are some people getting all fired up over the FEEBS getting new handguns. They wanted new handguns and put out specs. Several manufacturers offered their pistols for testing. No one was forced to make new pistols. I don't know how the FBI does it but my Dept. changes handguns every ten years or so. By then the holsters are out dated and need upgrades. The cost between a new handgun and refurb is not enough of an off set, it's better to get new ones that'll be carried for another ten or fifteen years. As far as personnel goes the FBI is probably just like any other LEO agency, they have nerds all the way up to combat vet high speed operators. I keep seeing post about how little the FBI actually uses their firearms on the street, oh well, they probably have a much higher chance of using their weapons while investigating felons, pedophiles and terrorist than the average GT forum member going to the movie theater while carrying. I see this as a great opportunity to have a different style Glock and some great testing before the firearm is mass produced. Look at the bright side.

HRT is a special unit. It will carry whatever if feels it needs to carry.
