I was really glad to here that Morganton was going to allow shooting on Friday. Previous years I had waits of 2 and 3 hrs. This is what the email announcing
this said "Friday, - Registration opens after final match setup and goes until 1:00 pm" Imagine my surprise when I arrived at 1015 and there was
a line outside the registration building. The computer is down, and they are going to let the ROs shoot first. Then some clown comes walking
up ( I thing maybe he was the "guy from Atlanta" ) and stated "No shooting till 12 o'clock . That's what was posted on the internet" . I remarked that
was NOT on the internet. There was no registration station for those of us who preregistered. Anger was getting the best of me so I asked
the nice guy who drove me down to take me back to may car. On the way back to the car I found out the following:
1. the local guy who runs the match was 'stuck" in atlanta.
2. The glock guy forgot the popper targets.
3.THE ONLY GOOD News is that the Morganton folks have increased the range to 5 stations for each event.
I have a thunderstorm on top of me or I would have more to say
Regards
Disappointed
1. No problem if they had told us. I never been a RO so I do not know the rules.
That should have been in the memo announcing the "bonus day" If they
had told me I could have showed up at noon. Or not come at all, as I needed to get home in the early afternoon.. No problem.
I have been shooting GSSF since mid 90's this is the first I have ever heard
the term "Bonus Day"
2. Is there a difference between a "Bonus Day" Friday and as far as I know
Regular Friday Shooting day. such as Dawsonville ? As far as I remember
they started shooting at 9 pm all 3 days at Dawsonville
3.Friday, - Registration opens after final match setup and goes until 1:00 pm
The above was all that was in the memo announcing the Friday shoot. If there was anything actually on the internet, I could not find it.
4. BTW, since I am posting, I need to apologize for all the typo's , etc. in my original post. I really did get caught in a fast moving thunderstorm and needed to get off my computer. PLUS, it gave ME a chance to cool off.
Cooling off is always good. Dawsonville was an exception due to the large expected turnout. Most RO's there probably shot on Thursday after set-up was complete.
Today’s match ran for me without a hitch. Squading was a well know issue in years past, NOT today!
The smaller pepper poppers certainly made the Glock “M” stages look imposing but I never missed one.
Plenty of tents for shade and water was plentiful.
Usual crew of friendly RO’s and some new faces too. I was impressed in that it just took a tick more than two hours for me to get through the entire match today.
I have to agree with Glockrunner. They worried me a little at first when I got there at 8:00 am and Scott told me that registration would be in twenty minutes and he didn't know where preregistration would be. I decided to use the time having my guns looked at by the armorers.
While waiting I looked around and noticed the sea of gray shirts. I realized that the only ones there except for a handful of shooters, were ROs. They certainly had a enough volunteers. Each set up typically had the timer and score keeper plus 2 or 3 volunteers that were just pasting.
Got my guns and stickers by 8:30, singed up at all three stages and ran into Bob by 9:00. The two of us were done about 11:00, in time to have an early lunch.
Kudos to the Morganton team, the only thing that they forgot this year was the mud.
Yes, I was surprised at the lack of shooters at 10:15.
Maybe something really was posted on the internet? IF ANYONE saw or received anything
announcing the delay, I would like to know where or what. I am concerned because
either I did not receive it or I am not looking in the right place.. The only thing I have seen is
the email from gssf. I always do check the glock site and email before going to a match
in case of last minute changes

This is correct. They did about 80% of the match setup on Thursday. The other 20% had to be completed first thing Friday morning before anyone could start putting bullets down range at all.
The goal was to be shooting by 10AM.
IRCC shooting actually started about 10:30, so they were not far off the plan.
