I have recently decided to add .45 to my ammo load. The only problem is i don't own a glock in .45. (really, i don't own any .45) i just can't decide between the 21 or the 41. I really prefer the longer slide models, but, i already have a G20. So the 21 would be compatible with any holsters i get. I do have a G34 and have heard the 41 is compatible with those holsters. I am just a little skeptical with the wider width of the 41 frame. Thank you for any input!
P.S. size is a non issue. I carry the G20 more than any 9mm. And the .45 will likely just be shot at the range, or pull truck/bedside duty.
If it's just going to be a range/HD gun no reason not to get the 41. The slide is a bit lighter so keep that in mind. If You were going to be carrying it at all OC or IWB I'd go with the 21.
Thank you guys! I knew i would end up with the 41, i just couldn't stop thinking about compatibility with the 20/21. Probably thinking wayyy too hard about it. Make a post at 5am, recieve three responses by 6am... I love this place!
Well if size is no problem anyway, truck/nightstand duty and a trip to the range the 41 is the one to go with.
A little longer better sight distance, win/win the 41 is a fun range gun.
I have been thinking about a 41 also.
I have a card or ticket from GSSF for a blue label pistol but its for duty pistols only. may have to with a 26 if they won't let me pay the diff for the 41.

I have both and love them both.
Agree with Rusty Guns. Longer sight distance I think makes it a tiny bit more accurate for me.
But I like the greater heft and feel of the 21. It feels like a real .45; certainly more substantial.
The 21 does not fit in holsters that carry my 26, 27, 22, 19 because the frame is wider.
Can't go wrong with either.

All of my AM barrels for the G20 and G21 are six inches.
They are both great guns and are capable of hunting large
game and target shooting, the G21 in the 460 R is buy far the most powerful.
With the same ammo, I think this is negligible, even when comparing the Gen 3 21 to a Gen 4 41. Some people say soft shooting, but compared to what? Both have a decent amount of muzzle flip when you run ammo in the 220 PF range, but the grips are the perfect size (SF with the 21), IMO, for keeping it under control. Both are some of the best shooting .45's out there with hotter ammo, IMO.
I'd never buy a gun around a holster for another gun. You'll never get the gun you want trying to do that. Just get another holster.
I just got a G41 and like it a lot. To answer your holster question, It depends on the holster. It fits some of my G34/35 holsters, but not all of them. Like harold63 said, "I'd never buy a gun around a holster for another gun. You'll never get the gun you want trying to do that. Just get another holster".
I have a 21 that I have had for many years, and a 30s for about 4 months.
A friend that I shoot with has a 41 that I can shoot any time. He can shoot my 21 or 30s any time, so we can save the cost of a gun we don't have. Instead of buying a 41 right now I think I'll use my ticket to buy a g-26.
My 41 fits all my 34/35 holsters. The only issue I had was with the gen3/gen4 RSA tunnel width difference on the slide. My 34 and 35 are gen3's. I had to relieve the point in the holster with my heat gun where the RSA tunnel fits. A holster for a gen4 34/35 should work fine with the 41 with no issues.
Obviously, everyone has their preference. I rarely sell a gun to get a new one, but because I already have a 36, I sold a 21 to get the 41. While I don't really "dislike" the 41, I feel it was a mistake. I find myself wishing for the 21. What that gun, I had a bbl that would shoot 400 Corbon, plus it was a very soft shooting weapon. With the 41, I have learned that it can never be anything but the 45 for technical reasons. That doesn't bother me near as much as the fact that I think there is more recoil and I don't shoot it as accurately as the 21.
That said, on sheer principal, I won't reverse the process. I vote the 21.
I would flip a coin.
Heads = Glock 21
Tails = Glock 41
I was trying to decide between the 21 and the 41 but ended up with the Glock 34G3. It was all about economics - 9mm is cheaper to shoot. I love 45acp though and will eventually get the 41 because of the grip and the large frame.
I don't remember if it was you, but did you put a different barrel in your 41 to shoot .45 super? I was considering a 22/24 lb RSA and an aftermarket barrel just to try. I'm 'bout tired of 10mm getting all the glory. :whistling:

GSSF doesn't consider the G41 a duty pistol? Better not let mine know that - I've carried and enjoyed firing mine since they were released two years ago.
Hey so I feel like our situation is pretty similar.
I just bought my first 45 ACP about a month ago.
Before the this purchase I own the following
G20
G34
G40
I really wanted to buy a 45 ACP because I reload and have something like 2 five gallon buckets of 45 ACP brass in my garage.
I really struggled with should I get a G21 or a G41.
The thing I liked about getting a G21 is that I could get a conversion barrel so I could shoot 10mm out of it. But then I was thinking I already have a G20 so I really did not see the need to get a conversion barrel to make a pistol I already own.
I ended up buying the G41. I really love the G41. it is super accurate. It is fun to shoot. The recoil is surpassingly mild. I am a real fan. The one bought has the MOS mount. I do not really see me using it but maybe...
It does fit in my G34 Holster although it is a little tight.
I would add that it weighs just slightly less then a G34.
I never really wanted a 45 ACP. I have been happy with 9 and 10mm for nearly 25 years. I always thought the people were kind of blinded by nostalgia when it came to the 45 ACP. But now that I have one I really like it. I am not ready to jump on any 45 ACP band wagons but I can acknowledge that I can like them and I can understand why others like the caliber to.
I have a G36 and just bought a G30SF, mainly for GSSF shooting. The G30SF can be used in every division except pocket pistol. But I ordered extra magazine for the G41 to use as spares.
Not Batts, but I run 45 Super in my 41 MOS with one of the LWD threaded barrels. Using a Gen3 RSA with 24 pound spring, and G3 to G4 conversion washer, for the RSA. There are Gen4 RSA's that allow spring changes.
I found that of the ISMI springs that I tested, the 20 and 22 tended to eject brass much like the stock Glock RSA. The 41 probably cannot do high end Supers, but so far no issues with 250's doing 1050-1100 fps. The 10 mm will always get the glory, the 45 Super just git's 'er done.
