I'm not saying good or bad, but want to point out that in this story the charge is related to filing a false police report. So at least it is some concrete action, as opposed to a charge of irritating someone.
Lying on paper w/ signature attesting to truthfulness to authorities...? Hmmm.
Good to see something come from that one supposes.
Perhaps not for lying about a puppy, but lies are lies.
Truth be told sometimes it's best to keep one's mouth shut rather than show world your highly intelligent (read less than) community collegiate adjunct professorial arse... even if it is for a good reason initially.
It;'s a strange title for the charge - here it would be "falsely reporting an incident" - but I agree with making it a felony to file false police reports. I wish we could see a lot more people prosecuted for it.
I'd like to see a lot more prosecutions for misusing the court system. Some people seem to think lying is an easy way to get some free payback for all kinds of things.
She will likely plea to a lesser charge. It's pretty rare to charge someone with making a false report. I investigated a rape one time that turned out to be false, the gal was upset cause the guy wouldn't leave his wife as he promised. Prosecutor wouldn't press charges because he didn't want to discourage women from reporting rape. Another time arrestee claimed officer had damaged his junker car. Car camera proved that to be false again no prosecution didn't want to discourage people from complaining on the police.
We need felons to keep lawyers busy defending them or prosecuting them or writing laws making things felonious to keep LEOs busy as well. Then you gotta house them and hire C.O.s, so more money to someone and once released track them later when out on parole so P.O.s. as well into the old money loop.
It's good business at taxpayer and Fed Reserve Printing Press expense. No worries. Till it hits you or me or any number of us... then it's time to "Lawyer Up".
See how well that works?
For someone?
See?
And we are all so much more safe now as a result, aren't we? I know I am.
ETA: Don't lie to law officers. It just might bite you in the ass as it should.
The way I read it she told her class the storie and one of her students filed the police report, nof her I'm not shure why there charging her with a felony for telling a storie to her class. This is a weird case and I'm not sayin she should have lied but if she didn't file the report why is she being charged? Maybe I misread but idk!

I read it again and you are correct. She did not file a police report. It was either the shelter or the student who did so. According the story (which was pretty poorly written), she admitted the truth when questioned by police.
Unless she made false statements to the police I can't see why they are charging her. For being a lying jerk?
