I bought some of the small pistol primers a couple months ago when they were on sale also. They work fine.

I was up at the local Cabela's on Thursday and they had a big cart of them that they were putting out on the shelves. They've also expanded their powder selection from one end cap to two end caps. They had quite the selection. A pound of AA#5 for $23...yay

I've been tempted to try their pistol primers, but I read somewhere (here maybe) that the edges of the cup are a bit more squared off than others, and they hang up in a LNL.

Anyone else experience this?
I've used and am using them on my LNL AP and haven't had any issues with them "hanging up" during priming.

Hard to beat the price.

I stocked up last time I saw them on sale there and I've shot about 500 of them so far and they work great.
There is a Cabela's near me so I bought another 2 bricks. Can't beat the price but I have had a few that took two strikes to fire. Only use store bought ammo for carry purposes anyway so no big deal with reloaded practice ammo. Have noticed they are labeled small rifle/pistol primers. Are they like CCI where small rifle is same as magnum small pistol? Is the S&B designed with thicker cups to be suitable for small rifle pressures? On close inspection of S&B while comparing to CCI small pistol primers, the anvils of the S&B primers aren't centered as the CCI. Thought this may be the cause for two strike firings.
I have been reloading long time and never had this issue with other primers (CCI,Winchester,Remington) so don't think it's my reloading technique. The S&B's are still a great value and I will continue to buy them when on sale.

The only thing that I have found with the S&B SP primers is that they are 'colder' as compared to Federal SP primers--- for the same amount of powder, the same bullet and cartridge having the same OAL, I found that the cartridges with the S&B primer had an average of about 25 ft/s less. The powder used was HS-6. The average was based on at least 23 data points for each combination.

Took a two hour trip to visit in-laws on Monday. Finished the day with a visit to the Cabelas store in the area. They only had large pistol primers available in both S&B and Winchester. I took a couple bricks of the S&B even tho I don't need them currently. Was bummed that they had no small pistol primers!

I've used their small pistol and large pistol, and have some LRM to try. I love the small pistol and wouldn't have any reservations using them exclusively for SP loads. The LP, I've found somewhat harder to seat than CCI, which is what I normally use.

That is good to here.

I got about 15K of these while they were on sale. I have gone through about 1500 of these so far with 9mm and 45GAP with no issues and similar performance to CCI. I saw where they are no longer on sale and back up to the $25/1000 regular price.

Are you using the S&B primers in a Glock? Just wondering because my gen 4 G26 has a heck of a time setting them off... like only 4 out of 10 per magazine. Stock springs in the Glock. Usually takes 2 but sometimes 3 strikes to fire in a Kel Tec P11. If no bang after 3rd hit in the P11, then move the round to a Ruger P89. I have had 2 primers that never did go off before I'd pierced them through. I bought 2 bricks at a time and believe they are different lots.

I have been shooting a well worn G37 that got new springs a few years back when I hit 25K and it has about 35K on it it now. I have a gen 4 G26 that is about 2 years old with about 1500 rounds through it and a Taurus 92AF that has more through it than both the Glocks, but it got new springs earlier this year. Since January I have used about 2k of the S&B's now. The only issue I have had was working up a new load with a new powder where I had started it too low to fully cycle the slide - not an issue with the primer. So far the S&B have worked 100%.

BTW: from advice on AR15.com I also ran a batch through in 223 and they worked fine for all 100 rounds.

Drat! Thought I'd found a solution to the hard batches of S&B primers in my possession. Received a 6lb Wolff striker spring. All the Glock manufactured extra strength springs are sold out and on back order. Still won't fire the S&B's, barely making a dimple. The individual 100ct boxes in the current brick are labeled 5/15. I think this means manufactured 5th week of 2015 as I have a box from a different brick marked 14/15. At least I've learned how to double strike with the Glock. I can pull the slide back just enough to re-cock the striker without ejecting the dud round. 6 of 10 rounds per magazine, on average, required the second hit.
I've got 4 full bricks and about 3,000 rounds already loaded with the S&B's. Going to be a long, frustrating Summer.
