This is my third Glock. I wanted a gun I could conceal but also protect me from bear when I'm in the woods. I bought the Glock 29 and initially loved it. The recoil reminds me of a .45 1911.
It rocks me back a bit but does not sting my hand like my Glock-27 does. I'm unable to fire a full magazine of ammo from my Glock-29 without getting a malfunction! I get a failure to feed or eject on about every 8th round.
I own a gen 3 and I have had zero issues with a couple thousand rounds.
Every time my BiL shoots it same thing happen as what is happening with you. We can load teh same mag and I have no issue, he does. Same ammo, same shooting session.
I suspect limp wristing and recoil management may be to blame. Try that first before you start throwing money at it or getting rid of it.
Here are my suggestions:
Get a high grip on the pistol and center it in the web.
Push forward with strong hand, pull back with weak hand
Lock elbow
Lean forward at the waist
Slight bend in the knees
Feet perpendicular to target
Or just listen to one of the best:
Just some suggestions, without actually seeing you shoot or shooting it myself I cannot say. Have you let anyone else try it?
I would also check your grip. I have heard of some people accidentally activating the slide release lever and locking the slide to the rear during firing.
I have a Gen3 G29- never had any noticeable problems w/ it...usually when glocks have a "malfunction" its shooter induced, common cause is limp wristing. Also, your report of it "rocking you back" tells me there may be an issue w/ your platform, so I would be inclined to think that again, shooter induced.
I'm currently having the extractor replaced. I have a friend who is a gunsmith, armorer, FLL dealer and very experienced with Glocks and other weapons. I had him come over to my range and fire the weapon. It fired 8 rounds flawlessly. He said there is nothing wrong with this weapon. I told him to keep shooting. On the 9th round he got a FTF. He called Glock and was told that there is a known problem with the extractor on Gen 4 Glocks. He is going to order me a new extractor next week and put it in for me. The latest Glock extractors have a "dip" in them that supposed to fix this problem. I find this weapon is very sensitive to the ammo used. It does not feed well with "Buffalo Bore" ammo.
I have a friend who is an FFL dealer and gunsmith. He makes and sells a lot of guns. I told him the problem I having. He came to my range and fired the weapon. He experience a "Failure to Feed" after firing 9 rounds. He looked into the problem and just sent me this list of parts he ordered on my behalf:
