My first experience messing with connectors
Been told that liability reasons should keep me using OEM. My review of the Zev Ultimate

Took a Stock Gen 4 6lb trigger to 4lbs with less forceful trigger reset and less stack before breaking
I may try the "-" connector next from Glock

Thank you, I agree. For carry the "race connector" isn't what I want. BUT I will say it lightened the slide pull and the trigger pull significantly and I will keep the connector in my spare parts as it certainly works for competitive and target shooting
Honestly I feel it does what is as advertised very well

I recently started a thread about the Zev V3 connector I found in a used G27 I just bought. I can't imagine paying money for something that would make my gun that much harder to shoot.

To be honest, if one of these things helps you shoot better, you probably need to get some training on how to shoot a Glock. In my experience, the most essential thing you have to learn to shoot a Glock (or any DA/SA or striker fired auto) well is to stop and hold the trigger at the break point. The Zev connector in the gun I traded for, made it next to impossible to feel the break point and hold the trigger there - it's an equipment fix for people who don't know how to shoot a Glock, so they pull the trigger all the way through, slack and all, when they shoot. Actually learning to shoot it is easy and you'll always shoot better than you could have with the equipment fix.

I definitely wouldn't use one of these connectors for competition. The guns we have that came stock with lighter Glock connectors had 5 lb. connectors put in and I just put a + connector in the 27 and the trigger is even better, so I may switch to one of those in my next competition gun.

Blah blah yada yada..... I run ZEV V4 Race connector in my carry 19 and it is worlds better then then factory dot or minus connectors. My trigger is light, crisp, smooth, and I know exactly where the breaking point is. Ive trained with this thing enough to 100% confidently know where the "wall" is (although lightened) and can stage this thing up to that point at the range all day before squeezing off a clean crisp shot, reset, and do it again and again

This gun a Gen 4 G19 stock is 6.5# with a slight take up, a heavy stacked wall and a sharp audible break. The Zev took that to under 5# but decreased the stacking and decreased the pressure needed for the trigger to break.
I don't mind a heavy trigger but I am more used to the Gen 3 which as advertised is 5.5lbs
As for being harder to shoot I didn't feel that way. With Glocks I always ride the reset with my trigger finger. I was able to get the gun to fire very reliably with the other connector but I sort of prefer a heavy trigger
I may try a Glock "-" connector in conjunction with the NY1 trigger spring next

You do what you have to do to have peace of mind, brother. I'm sure you will find a right combination of parts and ideals that will be congruent in your self defense choices.

Haha thanks so much sir. Honestly I am keeping the Zev connector and it is a great product (really lightened up the trigger as advertised,) also lightened the slide pull a little bit too. People obviously scared me back into using OEM parts ... But on a positive note I installed and uninstalled the Zev and Glock connectors about 6 times late last night so I'm getting really good at changing out connectors [emoji108][emoji23]
I appreciate your kind input as Usual glide

Defense of home and yours are first priority, secondly taking the steps to ensure that you remain free of incarceration and civil encumbrances IN CASE of an incident should be evaluated. I suggest that if you are carrying it's time to retain an attorney and keep current with the laws that are changing in your state. Spending a Lifetime working and accumulating wealth could be destroyed by some imbecile of a law and an interpretation. Even if you decide you have nothing to lose you could lose your wages for sometime, or anything of value.

There are people out there that will take any advantage in acquiring what you have by any means, the $200.00 you spend might save you tens of thousands for the future.

For the newer shooters please be advised that this is not a burn to your age or actual experience but a view of WHAT negative things could happen.

Every Gen4 Glock with DOT connector that I have *measured* had the OEM-rated 5.5-lbf pull. The MINUS connector produced a *measured* 5.0-lbf pull in the same pistols. All was as advertised...no surprises.

Early Gen4 pistols had the UNMARKED connector, which does produce a 6.0-lbf pull in an OEM pistol.

On the internet, everybody can.

So you posted that you got your first Glock 14 months ago?
...........your point? I was an XDM guy and switched over because Glocks are easy as hell to work on, there is a huge aftermarket, and the main reason: all the options to tune the trigger exactly how you want it. You must be an amatuer at best if you truly believe better triggers are an "equipment fix"..........tell that to everyone with $3500 Remmy 700 builds, Timney AR triggers, etc

lol @ you not knowing your own gun so you think others cant know theirs

Yikes. Carrying a race gun for self-defense. Good luck with that. Sounds like your training has been very intense and realistic, standing there at the range and staging the trigger and all.
I didnt say anything out of the norm....I didnt claim to be some navy seal......all I said was I know my trigger and I do. 100 or so dry fires daily, range every weekend, practice trigger control from the draw every day so its second nature / muscle memory. Its really not that hard to believe........

My 19 is far from a "race gun" just because it has a product in it called a "race" connector. Its the perfect mix of a smooth / lightened trigger with a very obvious wall thats just lighter then OEM.

......and as far as liability: IF I need to use my gun in a real world scenario, there is going to be a VERY valid reason behind it. Im prettttttyyyyyyyy sure nobody is going to say "Oh but he had a ZEV connector in his carry gun when he shot the armed guy that broke into his home in the middle of the night, that changes everything"

But wait, there's more!

My Gen 4 19 is my edc. After seeing a video I took a chance and removed the stock "." connector and replaced it with a Ghost "Edge."
The change is far easier than shown in the video, but the connector is outstanding.
The pull dropped from 5.5 pounds to 5 pounds, and the feel is outstanding. I know that messing with the internals will bring the wrath of lawyers, the Gods on Olympus, and obscure New Mexico native pueblo spirits upon me.
However, the trigger feel is unlike any Glock trigger I've tolerated, and I recommend all try it.

(I also have a muscle disease and huge hands. To correctly manipulate the weapon I've added extended slide lock, slide release, and a back cover plate extension to ease racking the slide.)

I dry fire with a coin on the slide. I am now able to fire with no motion of the slide.

Rocky7 thanks for the concern. My disease process is well documented by multiple doctors to the satisfaction of SS Disability, my strength has dropped from easily lifting 200# to now straining to lift 30#. A career RN, attorneys have asked me for advice. On this one, I'll take my chances.

I've tried a lot of connectors. The V4 is my favorite. I have it in a g17.4 along with a competition spring kit and a titanium striker which makes for a 2.5#, short , light and crisp trigger pull with a short reset. Everyone who shoots it wants to know what parts I used. Four years and 6000+ rounds and I've had no issues with it. BTW my carry gun (G19.4) is stock.

If you have to defend yourself, all that matters is that the shoot is legal, justified. What you shoot someone with is immaterial.
Maybe you two legal experts should actually consult a real attorney.

Criminal Liability: There are documented cases of a prosecutor using a lightened trigger to show intent to make the weapon deadlier, or at the other end of the spectrum implying the trigger was accidentally pulled because the trigger was lightened. These things individually may not warrant a conviction, however it is usually a combination of evidence that adds up to a conviction. But, you guys will only be involved in "justified shoots", right? Why don't you ask George Zimmerman about being involved in a justified shoot and being charged and tried for 2nd degree murder? I wonder what the statistic is for "justified shoots" ending in criminal trials is. The fact that some of you think justified shootings are black & white are in for a real surprise if you ever are involved in one. Often times those lines are very blurry and you could easily find yourself in a courtroom defending your actions. It is naive to think otherwise and conviction or acquittal is irrelevant. Again, just ask George Zimmerman how normal his life has been since his acquittal for his "justified shoot".

Civil Liability: How much does a wrongful death lawsuit pay these days? You are aware that civil cases are much easier to win in court and justified shoot or not, the family of the "victim" could easily take you for a significant settlement even in the most black & white of self defense shootings where the castle doctrine is recognized and an intruder broke into your home. No criminal liability does not in any way mean no civil liability unless you live in one of only 10 states in the US that covers civil liability in the event that no criminal wrongdoing is found in the shooting.

You guys are in for a wake up call should you ever have to use your firearm for self defense. Hopefull you never need to.

Just one. Post a link to just one situation where a modified trigger effected the outcome in a civilian shooting criminal case. And, to speed things up; I've asked this before, many times, and no one has been able to.

As far as civil, many states have castle doctrine that remove that concern.

And, in case you missed it, there was no question of Zimmerman's trigger during the trial, which is the topic we're discussing. Mentioning that case adds nothing to the discussion.

Additionally, consider that many SD/HD shootings involve rifles and shotguns that have very light triggers.

Then some of us are in real trouble here--

Some of us use non Glock ammunition. In fact some of use those more deadly hollow point bullets intended to do greater harm. Only deranged people that want to kill someone carry those evil hollow point bullets. Heck even the military won't use those hollow point bullets they are just too evil even for military use.

Some of us also use those evil night sights. Those night sights are only good for shooting people in the dark aren't they?

Heaven forbid a person uses +P ammunition-- That stuff is so powerful it is only carried to do massive harm to & tear flesh apart. If using +P ammo ever comes up in court the person that used it is doomed.

Then we get to those magazines that carry an extra round. The shooter only had those so he could do more damage & kill more people. Or even more damaging to is carrying that extra magazine as that shows intent to just massacre everyone in sight.

Now we come to using that ultra slick gun grease. That is only used to make the gun shoot faster so more bullets could be shot at the perpetrator. You grease your gun up with that stuff you showed intent to go kill someone faster.

Then we get to sanding on that trigger safety as that shows REAL intent to have a more deadly weapon.

If your non shooting mother is on the jury what do you think she would put more weight on--those big evil hollow point bullets passed around the jury or some trigger modification that no one understands?

I know how to shoot with the factory trigger just fine, it just feels like crap. My Glock with a ZEV connector is just as light as a factory XDM trigger, just no where near as mushy. What makes the XDM trigger acceptable if the pull weight is the same as mine for the most part? The FEDS should be thanking me for spending $ to make sure that I will get off the most accurate shot possible if some ISIS fool is trying to Jihad around me :)

Hey guys please let's keep this one civil and on topic for Glock pistol related convo
As for the connector I've removed it and will not be carrying with it in my 19
Later I may try a glock 34 connector

Has anyone ever tried these flashlight magazine base plates? Made by Glock?

Unfortunately all of these threads take a turn toward legality of use in a defensive pistol and usually get derailed by people with opposing positions on the subject.

Back on topic. All of the available connectors are similar in that the change the angle of the engagement surface where the trigger bar rides. There are some that offer gimmicks like an over travel stop, but aside from that the differences are minimal. You likely won't feel much difference from one to the next. I have always opted for the OEM "-" connector in my target pistols with the exception of the Zev gun I built as I am a firm believer in using factory parts over aftermarket. If you took out the Zev connector, investing in others will likely net the same result.

Why do the Want to be Attorneys give advice in all the trigger threads on GT?
If anyone needs Legal Advice talk to a Real Attorney with experience in these matters.
I carry my Attorney's Card in my wallet and I will let him speak for me if I ever have to use Lethal Force.
