For 9mm, about 6000 rounds loaded and enough for about another 14,000. 45 ACP loaded about 2000, and enough for another 8000. 44 mag about 1000 rounds loaded.
As of now I have, 9mm, 450 rounds plinking rounds, 350 rounds Federal HST, .40 S&W 300 rounds plinker stuff, 250 Federal HST, .357 Sig 250 rounds. I bought the HST stuff at a very good price because it's my favorite carry & home defense ammo. I generally pick up a box or 2 along when I find a good price on practice ammo.
I hope to have four or five hundred less rounds of 9mm later today, if the weather doesn't get too bad.
I buy all my ammo on the internet and look around for bargains. I might jump on a really good buy for several cases. Three or four years ago I picked up 3000 rounds of Win Ranger .40 135 grain for $900 delivered. If I get down to 2000 or so in a caliber I start getting anxious, and look for more. I'm comfortably retired now and can afford it. When I was just out of the army decades ago, I would have thought 300 rounds was too rich for my blood. And it was several years before I ever bought a full case.
I have about 1200 rounds of 9 mm, bullets and primers for that many more, powder and cases for several times that. For .380ACP, around 500 rounds, a couple of thousand cases. Down to around 500 .22LR. I am encouraged by news that it seems to be available some places, but it is still like chasing unicorn feathers around here. .38 Special I have about 250 on hand, with another 100 or so of empty brass and 500 bullets on hand. I have a little .25ACP that I hardly ever shoot, with maybe 100 rounds on hand for that.
I'm an older fart, use to buy mil surp by the case in the late 80s early 90s. I still have 3 cases of ChiCom 7.62X39 steel core from when the dealers had short notice of it becoming illegal to sell, wish I still had all I've shot up, and that's just one caliber.
Most of us would be some lucky hombres if we could use a tenth of what we have in SHTF. I plan on having a truck load of brass around me if it goes down...at least I'll get the goodie out of what I paid for. :50cal:
Between my brother and I enough probably to cover a limited scale conflict! We did the math a few years back- ( granted this is spread out across literally dozens of calibers) if we started shooting at rate of 20 rounds per minute how long would it take to run out? Our figures supported 8 continuous days at the 20 rounds per minute rate - as long as you went 24/7 without a break! And if we find a good deal we still buy more!
I try to keep about 2000 rounds per caliber loaded. Sometimes I have more and sometimes less. I had about 800 9mm on hand, loaded 2500 rounds of last month, and I only have about 2100 on hand now. I blew through 300 this past Monday at the range and the rest at other range days. I have succumbed to the "load more, shoot more" conundrum.
I am back down to 1 lb of pistol powder so I need to source some more powder as I have enough other supplies, minus powder, to load up another 3K of 9mm and 1.5k of 45GAP. I could use some 45 boolits as well.
