Tucker, found this on the net... wanted to share the info...

Ordnance officers have the opportunity to become a member of the elite Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. The EOD mission is to diffuse, render safe and dispose of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) munitions. Entry into EOD is possible through one of two methods. The first one is during OBC. Normally, there is one EOD School allocation for every two OBC classes. Selection of applicants is based on a two-phase process. During the first phase, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in AR 611-105. Upon attaining eligibility requirements, applicants proceed to the second phase to compete for an EOD slot amongst their peers. The evaluation in phase two includes four areas: academics, APFT, board interview, and memorandum. An order of merit list (OML) will be established from this competition with the individual who receives the highest score. Then that individual will be recommended for the EOD School slot. The last way is by applying while attending the Captain's Career Course.

wish i could tell you more about eod... but i have no experience w/ eod or od. i'll get some od training soon but thats about it. what i do know is eod is the HOOAH field in od. some people want it others dont. if you want it then surely its a possibility. i also suggest that you make your intentions known right away. getting your commander support is key to getting what you want in our profession. be that guy your commander can depend on and you'll reap the benefits. if i didnt have letters of recommendations i'd still be rocking the wig-wags.

now regarding being a loggie, i was away from the branch for almost 2 years (stuck in signal) and am damn glad they switched me. it can be a thankless job at times. fortunately smart leaders know they depend on logistics. its also has a lot of opportunities on the outside. i'll say this, qm (supply) can often times be booooorrring. but still its necessary. my passion is trans. its a great feeling loading up and seeing all leave, destined for warfighters who depend on whatever you're haulin.

Hey sir, glad to see there are some other Obama supporters on GT. Great forum and tons of good guys here. We all like Glocks, regardless of our political views. I happen to be a Democrat myself so its good to see others in the Military (im a cadet, almost ready to commission) on here who are voting for Obama. Hooah!
