You didn't go to http://www.openoffice.org/ You probably ended up at a site like http://openoffice.org-suite.com They'll charge you for free software.

Hi has anyone tried TEAMVIEWER??
Its a program sort of like remoteadmin or VNC. You can remotely access any pc connected to your LAN or to the internet. It is very easy to use and is free.

Something I'd never noticed was missing from the list, was tools to rip a CD (or I missed it)... Found a couple of DVD rippers in the list.
Anyways, there's some good ones in this thread.
http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1067517
I personally really like AudioGrabber http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/
Another that was mentioned in that thread that seems good....
EAC -- http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
Edit: By the way, why is this not stickied yet?

MediaMonkey has replaced EAC for me. It's not fully freeware since the advanced features require purchase, but it is clearly the best money that I have EVER spent on software.

Thanks, I was originally trying to be polite with the link thing, and look how that backfired on me.

I notice that there is no section for alternatives to Windows :-).
* It appears most items on the list are FOSS [Free & Open Source Software]. I am not claiming to have read or inspected any/all of the software licensing governing any/all of the software or software projects on the list. There. Hopfully that will deter a lot of stupid ******* replies.

You didn't answer toyman's question about bandwidth?

Two free applications for your consideration:
1. The PC Decrapifier A great tool for cleaning up all the trial-ware nonsense included with new Dell/HP/Toshiba/etc. computers.
2. Metapad An alternative to Windows Notepad.
Great thread!

Very good.
I was simply pointing out that the OP was doing a decent thing. I don't see the point of nit-picking someone doing something helpful...

I just rediscovered a cool tip: www.filehippo.com stores, in chronological order, every version of many types of software.
Having an OLDER version of software available has come in handy a couple times for me so far:
- I upgraded to the newest Skype and HATED the interface. It was AWFUL. Filehippo to the rescue!
- Firefox 3.5 will not work with the Google Notebook addon, which I really, really like. I'm needing to do a format of my primary computer here very soon and will be able to get an older version of FF from Filehippo.
Hope this helps.

Any Ideas on a DVD burner freeware or payware. I have no TV and do Netfix and every once in awhile I would like to keep some old classics for personel use of course.
