I saw a photo of one of these in the Feb 09 issue of Combat Handguns, IIRC. Looks good, as do Ruger, NAA, Kel Tec, Seecamp, & Beretta. But making a small semi-auto be reliable right out of the box in all guns shipped from the factory seems to be an elusive goal. You pay your money and take your chances. That's why I think I'd prefer getting a NAA mini-revolver, maybe the Pug. It's small AND reliable.

i have the new issue of american handgunner infront of me now. it has the micro-eagle pic on the inside cover. it looks nice and really a neat looking gun. that said i doubt i'd buy it for $500+ price tag.
I am sure the quality will be far superior to Kel-Tec or Ruger. If I was going to pay that cash I would go ahead and get a Walther PPS 9. Then you would have more thump than the .380, excellent reliability, and it is a great range gun.

For twice the price of a Kel-Tec P3AT it oughta' be superior in quality. "Far superior"? Doubt it. And about the PPS, thing is, I don't ever wear my Sunday-go-to-Service britches to the range. Point is, the reason folks buy the Kel-Tec P3AT and the Ruger P3AT--like me--is that sometimes what you're wearing and/or where you are going, prohibits a heavy, large footprint handgun. So you can either carry NO handgun, or SOME handgun that's small and light enough to ride in the pocket of a pair of dress slacks without turning heads in the pews. At 10 oz.± loaded, the Kel-Tec P3AT is as light as it gets that still throws something respectable, a 9mm Short. The PPS is MUCH heavier and bulges MANY more square centimeters of slacks cloth. My P3AT has been very reliable and even with a Crimson-Trace laser sight strapped on and 7 rounds of premium Cor-Bon DPX HPs aboard it is still lighter than my S&W 642 with 5 aboard (not putting down the "J"...love the "J").
Of all of the .380ACP competitors that are arriving to battle the Champ (P3AT), the one that intrigues me the most is the Kahr offering. I will run that one when one is available. This Desert Eagle looks like a new spin on a Grendel P-10 (Grendel), a weapon of which Mr. Kelgren, the "Kel" in "Kel-Tec".

It's 14 ozs empty -- so loaded, it will weigh half again as much as a loaded P-3AT. I do like the idea of all-steel -- except for the weight.
Also, in looking at the photo -- are we seeing an external trigger bar running back under the grip? If so, one has to wonder about the trigger pull.
Ever pull the trigger on the old external-trigger-linkage AMT DAO .380? I own one of those, and the trigger as it came from the box was horrific. I am handy enough that I was able to clean it up with stones, and I still use it as a "gardening gun" when I'm all sweaty out mowing the lawn -- but for the price of this new .380, let's hope the trigger is decent out of the box.
If the cost, weight , and trigger pull of this new .380 are all inferior to the P-3AT (mine has been 100% reliable with Gold Dots), then Desert Eagle will have an uphill climb selling theirs.

If they could get it into the $425's at the highest, I'd scoop one up in a hearbeat. Hell, I can get brand new .40 cal and under glock for $440 plus tax...

Aren't Seecamp .380s in the $700 range? The don't suspect that the Micro won't sell at MSRP, so it'll occupy the market space between in the mid-range .380s.
They should have spent the R&D money in a pocket 9. A $5-$600 9mm to rival Rohrbaugh would be a better seller, IMHO.
