I had great experiences with the Geauga County Sheriff's office for both my original application and renewal. Sheriff Dan McClelland and Deputy Tom Dewey do a great job.

The original application took about 7 days in 2004 and the renewal took about 5 days this year. Although I live in Cuyahoga County, I never even thought of going there - I think Sheriff McFaul took a few months to get up and running back in 2004.

It's also a nice drive out Rt. 87 to Chardon.

Lake county is the fastest from what i was told, so i went there and only waited like three days to get it after submitting my application.

I can find out how long Portage county is taking, give me few days to find my acquaintance and ask him.

I think it was like less than 10 working days for Portage county-Sheriff Kaley is a awsome sheriff. Medina county is a good county also. I took my CCW class from Roger Polk who is out of Wadsworth, Ohio (39 bucks for the course) and the Medina county sheriff(who actually goes to Roger Polk's church) spoke at the CCW class I attended.
Medina county and Portage county have super folks in law enforcement-Summit county is the one I have no experience in...

Someone help me out, please. Isnt it true that you can only apply for CCW in a county adjacent to your home county (as in touching your county) or have I been given bad info? Thanks

You can apply in your home county or ANY county that touches your home county.

Being a CCW instructor I get feedback from my students. So far the best seems to be Lake county. Their availability and turn around time is phenominal.
