Years ago when I first went to Glock armorers school, the instructor gave anyone with the "E" numbers an upgrade kit so I replaced the black parts. I just found them in a plastic bag a few weeks ago.

Artical is about the 3 glock models,G17, G17L, and G19. I can't post photos, but will pass this magazine on to anyone who wants it. Dan

I bought this in NYC in 1987 after they lifted the "ban" on them. I had a custom extended mag release made because there were no aftermarket partts back then. I also had it ported back then (wrongfully) and recently put ghost ring sights on.

According to the book The Complete Glock Reference Guide the model 19 was introduced in 1988. In 1989 they started using a 2nd generation frame.
I have never seen a glock 19 that as the rounded appearance and so little roughness around the front and back of the backstrap as the 1st gen model 17.
I think the first gen model 19's are extremely rare.

Not sure what generation glock I have but the serial number is AXX --- US on the frame. Is this an early g1 or g2? Its surely not a g3 due to straight grips. I have a G3 for a duty gun at work... lol.. so that much I know!.
thanks.

The Generations are pretty easy to tell, the Gen 1 has a smooth grip. A first generation Glock will have a "pebble" type finsh on the grip frame area, a second generation has checkering on the front/backstrap/front of trigger guard, third generation got the finger grooves. Here is a thread with a wealth of information

My G19 has a WT prefix.....born in 1991. Was originally purchased from glock and used as my primary duty carry back in the day on patrol along the southwest border. Never failed me....still have original box and accessories. Slide has some holster wear and and handle some scratches but I think it adds character to my baby...

I have a 2nd gen glock 19 that was among the first 1,000 imported. It was born March of 1988 the same month the first gens made in the u.s.
