The best steel knife I own - an old USA made Shrade Sharpfinger. This blade takes a true razor edge.

The Cutting Edge

A few folders. All are Spyderco's.

The Cutting Edge

Some big "Choppers", and a few odds and ends. (Cold Steel Assagi spear head on far left)

The Cutting Edge

And here's one of my favorite big knock around blades. Its a modified Cold Steel Matchete that has been shortened to about 12". Below it is a BK&T 9 for comparison. I have used this now really big knife for digging up bushes, splitting wood, driving nails and what not. Its always worked. Best part is that CS usually has their matchetes on sale. IIRC I paid about $12 for mine. The hunter orange sheath is one of mine, but the sheath that comes with them from the factory is OK for a matchete sheath.

The Cutting Edge

And because I didn't see a lot of really big stuff how about a CAS Hanwei Tactical Wakizashi.

CQC-11 with a Krein regrind - straightened the edge from the original recurve and thinned it just a little. Its sharp.

I am not a fan of the recurve either. I have a ZT301 that I was going to send to Krein, but it just added too much to the cost of the knife. I have Waaaaay too many knives anyway. I like how yours turned out.

Thanks guys. It's also my first wave-featured knife. Can't keep my hands off it, or should I say can't quit drawing it.

Whats a Krein grind? Im not THAT knowledgeable on grinds, I know the types, convex, flat etc.. just dont know how to recognize them on a knife. I'm also looking to get an Emerson, currently carrying a Benchmade 940 osborne. Any opinions on which should be my first Emerson?

A "Krein Regrind" is a service performed by knife maker Tom Krein. He would do just about any grind/reprofile work you could ask for. I'm told he's not taking any regrind work right now, but don't know that specifically. In the case of my CQC-11 above, the edge was reprofiled to eliminate the recurve and make it more of a drop/spear point. And I'll flatout tell you, that thing is stupidsharp.

edit: Kind of ironic I just saw your post - today my left pocket holds an Osborne 930BK Kulgera and my right the CQC-11.
