arent you worried about inadequacy of the rounds? .410 buck shot ballistics show that, well it doesn't penetrate much and it spreads way too much, the slugs penetrate about as much as a .25acp, and the .45 colt over penetrates.

Check out box of truth and their review of the judge here, they do awesome ballistics testings. Just my two cents, personal preference though =D I admit the Judge is a beastly looking revolver and have been in the market for one as a camping/hiking gun.

It sure looks a lot bigger! Especially if you took the CT grip off the S&W and put on the small factory ones!

I have seen the Box of truth review, but they used a different earlier version of the gun than mine, and the ammo they tested was crudely modified older 3in shells. See the test I did in a previous post.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
With the new Federal OOO buck shells designed for the Judge, I think the 410 would be very effective. At 30 feet the spread was under 4in, and 3 of the 4 pellets will fully penetrate 4 1 gallon water filled jugs (with the 4th fully penetrating 3 into the 4th jug.). I would agree that bird shot, especially smaller than #4, is not the best for defensive use, but the new buckshot rounds put it on a new level.<o:p></o:p>
4 61 grain pellets (244 total) at about 900 FPS that hit in a four inch group simultaneously and penetrate deeply; well I can’t imagine anyone hit center of mass with that doing anything but falling over.
I have been carrying it for a while now, and don’t really find it any harder than the 38 other than you notice the weight a little by the end of the day.<o:p></o:p>
The ammo pouch is a cell phone case by Nite Ize, it will hold a couple of speed strips very well.<o:p></o:p>

yeah, I saw that they haven't really tested ammo specifically designed for the judge. I saw some at walmart though it just says ".410 pistol ammo" rather than the regular .410 shotshell or whatever. i assumed it was designed better to be shot through a rifled barrel.

I got mine at Wal-Mart, about 11.50 per box of 20. It is a lot different load than the standard Winchester rounds. The shot is harder and copper plated. It has a very good wad-shot cup so the rifling does not distort it, and I think the powder is different; there is not a lot of flash out of my gun, so I think it burns completely in the short barreled guns. The cylinder gap on mine is also very tight (.0025 on all chambers) so I am sure that helps velocity. The box lists 1200 fps, but actual chronograph reading I have read about put it closer to 800-900.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I'm sure you'd get the full 1200fps in a longer barrel, don't they come standard with a 3" barrel or something? How is your accuracy in with with the .45LC though? I heard its not bad, just shoots high.

I did limited shooting with 45LC due to the high cost of the ammo. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Usually one or the other. Once in a while, both.

SIG P238, never a failure..small, light..just expensive to shoot...why are .380's so much more expensive than 9mm?
