you can only go down in size

unless you change the whole slide to the corresponding slide for the 40 S&W, then you can get a conversion barrel to shoot 9mm again

or just buy another Glock in the caliber you want

Let's see, if that was a good or even safe idea don't you think Glock would make thinner walled barrels to start with? Be safe and do things correctly.

Like others have said, you can only convert to calibers equal or smaller than your slide is set up for
