Anyone using the Safariland Triple Mag pouch? The one that orients the mags to face outward? I'm thinking of picking one up.

Yep. For a single stack. My favorite thus far. Rides high, which I like.

Maybe with a 20 rounder and maybe without those worthless flaps!

Well, I personally don't carry a rifle mag on my belt and probably won't. Makes the pouch stick out too far. I'd probably go with a 30 rounder if I did. I'm instead looking at going back to a female drop leg subload clip attached to my inner belt so I can throw on an extra 2 mags plus a med pouch if I pull the rifle out. But yeah, open top pouches all the way.

Have not been wearing the Orca's lately as my shoulder was bugging me more than my back and hips. I go about two weeks with them and two weeks without them.

I really need to get an open top mag pouch, but I haven't decided whether to go all out and get the insanely cool, but expensive open top quad from Dave Lauck or try something else. I don't think that I have the width for the Safariland triple without moving stuff farther back around my left side, and I really don't want to do that as it makes sitting in the car less comfortable.
I just started wearing my Orcas last shift. I am trying to get hem approved here, along with external vest carriers.

The TASER in the cargo pocket was my best move yet. Sooooo much more comfortable. I never kept anything worthwhile in there anyway.

If you want my leather opentop quad carrier, I'll give it up for $30. It's plain leather though, not B/W.

If you need a kydex-ish quad carrier, look at the Hoffners M5 quad.

http://www.hoffnertactical.com/item....ookupcode=M4QP

It is $95, but well made. I shipped mine off to Indigent for the academy in TX.

I was just thinking a 30 rounder would stab me in the gut when I sat down. I carried an AR mag for 3 years on my belt, and I ain't exactly small (6'3"/240) and a 30 rounder woulda been unweildy, IMO.

Guess it depends on where you put it too. I run my mags on the left side, about 9:00. Same place when I'm off duty. Consistency and all. Plus, I like to keep my weapons up front (OC, baton, pair of cuffs, etc.) so they kind of have to go there. I thought you were smaller than that. lol

(I've since gone to the longer/deeper baton holder...short one made the baton prone to falling out, though I liked how it held it higher up)

Damn, yer a skinny bastard! I was 165 or so when I started too.

I've never seen anyone carry mags at 9 on a duty rig. Interesting, and sound logic.

Are you wearing a vest? You look skinnier than me and I'm under 160 pounds.

Photo is deceiving. Wearing a vest and BUG. 5'11", 180. Actually a bit chunky still.

Damn you guys and your no flaps, flap-less duty gear! :D

AggiePhil, what kind of baton scabbard is that? I like it (maybe more than the Manodnock swivel one). It looks like we're being given the "choice" to carry an expandable baton, or expandable baton from now on...what you have seems to be pretty compact.

I got my Safariland 79 the other day and I like it. I only wish it was pushed out a little farther from the belt so my gut doesnt hit it. Guess I need a smaller gut

That's the Peacekeeper RCB in their rotational holster. Best baton on the market IMO. My coworkers always ask to play with it cause it's like a baseball bat compared to their ASPs. It's *slightly* heavier than an ASP of equal size but the main advantage is in its weight DISTRIBUTION. I can't say enough good things about them. Mine is the 26" model. http://www.peacekeeperproducts.com

AggiePhil - What is the make and model on your cuff case for the ASP cuffs on the front of your belt?

It's the chained ASP cuffs but the Safariland 090H open top case for standard hinged cuffs. Strange, but it works perfectly. I suggested to Safariland that they put it up on their website that this case fits the ASP cuffs but apparently they haven't decided to do that. I really wish they'd officially embrace the ASP cuffs but so far, they haven't. I've been using them my entire career (4+ years).
