Heading to Florida
Specifically, we (the family) are heading to Pensacola. Haven't been to FL as an officer - anything I should know about carrying down there?
I know there's at least one Escambia county guy around, as well - although I don't think he's been on in a while. We are planning trips to the Naval Air Museum and maybe the AF Weapons Museum. IIRC, both are on Federal property, so no-go on guns, right?
Anyway, any tips or fun stuff to do (family oriented) would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Straight down 65 from Louisville. Expecting to meet at least one of your people, Bama - my biddy makes an annual excursion to Destination, and always gets hit in Alabama.
On the way back, I'm detouring to my old home in Nauvoo for a visit. No family, but a few old friends are there. Any of you all work that way?

I'd imagine the Naval Air Museum would say no. As it's federal property, I'd contact the NCIS field office there since they'd more than likely have jurisdiction there and ask them.

It's kind of the honor system on Pensacola NAS. Technically, you're not supposed to bring a weapon on there, but left in the car, it would be a real weird situation to get nailed for it.
I don't remember there even being metal detectors at the museum last time I was there about three years ago, but maybe now there are.
I'd rather leave my gun in my trunk at take it on base, than leave it in my hotel room.

You shouldn't have any problems. The "no carry" locations are gov bldgs, sporting events, bars. Take a look at the website. It's all spelled out. Restaurants serving booze are ok and you can have A drink and be legal. Malls and stores can post, but there's no legality behind it. Stay concealed. If they see it and ask you to leave, do so. Not doing so is armed trespassing. Having said all that, I've lived in FL for over 30 years and have carried most of that time. NEVER had a problem. Besides, if you're a LEO you have LEOSA and professional courtesy. Enjoy and spend money!

<<<<<<<<Ruh-Roh! It’s a Tarp!
Santa Rosa County……
RELAX and enjoy your vacation.
Advice: Try the Grits a Ya-Ya at the Fish House and remember that the Flora-Bama ain’t for kids.
While I’m not LE, as I’m sure you know, don’t carry on Federal property and you will get along just fine.
