Ok, I wasn't sure if all 3rd gens had the two pins or not.

Your work is fantastic. Thank you. I am stunned Glock would turn away such an informative and professional piece of work, given their apparent lack of internet skills. That alone would make their site get hits as people link to it. Again, great work.

Something I noticed, shouldn't the slide/barrel start moving back from the moment the bullet starts its travel through the bore, not once it has left it?
Or is that intentional to save cpu usage?

+1 YOU ROCK!
Where can I get one of those transparent models? I asked the guy at my local store and he looked at me like I was talking Hindi or something....
Seriously, very, very nice work.....
Just guard your source code or Bill will get hold of it and drive you out of business while he rebadges it to Microsoft Visual Glock and makes a billion $$$.

No. The sample inside the link is of a 1911 style pistol, but the same principle applies to Glocks. The Bullet leaves the barrel before the slide really starts to move.

You know, I've been wanting to do a CAD simulation of a Glock for a long time. (A) This is just as cool and more accessible to the masses and (B) This will be a great reference if I ever do get off my duff and build one.

I can only agree with the compliments above!
One question though: in your grapic when firing the Glock, the spring cups hit the front of the firing pin channel after which the striker moves forward against the firing pin spring pressure, finally reaching the primer thus firing the round. Doesn't in reality the striker reach the primer before the springcups slam into the front of the firing pin channel?
Not trying to be a b****, just wondering.

In my understanding no, because the firing pin sping cups "drive" the firing pin forward. Corret me if I'm wrong...

I agree with the part about the spring cups driving the striker, but that was not what I meant; When you look closely at the computersimulation you made: when the trigger is pulled backwards and the end of the triggerbar moves downward, the striker is released. The firing pin spring now pushes the striker forward by pushing against the spring cups, which are connected to the striker itself; so far no complaints here, but now comes the part where I think your graphics are wrong: when the striker is almost at its foremost position, you picture the springcups hitting the front end of the firing pin channel (before the striker tip reaches the primer),and after the spring cups stop moving forward, the striker does move forward about a quarter of an inch, hitting the primer and setting off the round. This I think is not correct; in reality the tip of the striker or firing pin reaches the primer before the springcups hit the front of the firing pin channel.
Apart from this detail, I think your graphics are great and am using the transparant blue one as the front of my glock-notes,
Regards,
Calvin.

Ok, I see what you mean. Does anybody KNOW who is right, I thought I was but I'm not sure anymore.
The firing pin does have "free play" when the firing pin cups are at the forward position. When you press down the firing pin safety (on a removed slide) you can move the firing pin forward and back without any spring tension.
In other words when you pull the striker back and release it slowly (firing pin pressed down) with your fingers you can feel that the firing pin spring cups contact the slide first before the firing pin protrudes from the firing pin hole on the slide. This, in my opinion, indicates that the animation is correct.;Q Anybody?

You're starting to make me doubt aswell... I don't think many people take the time to scroll all the way down this thread anymore, but I'll try to work it out on a glock. Will get back to you on this.
Regards,
Calvin.
