What would you do ?

My LGS has 3 G20sf Gen 3's in stock.... 3 of them !
I ordered a Gen4 from them.... and am waiting..... don't like waiting....

I did have a Gen 3 G20sf and liked it.... but traded it in for a 29sf.... don't ask me why .... I think cuz easier carry during bowhunting and remote flyfishing....

Now I can afford both.

Im thinking about grabbing one of the 20sf's and forgetting about the Gen4 order ,,,,,,

Damn .... I wish I had this problem with the wimmens

I don't think you should get a gen 3.

I think you should buy at least TWO of them.
I admit i have not shot a gen 4 G-20, but have handled a few G21 gen 4's. Not sure what the fuss is about. I'd get a Gen 3, and if it were me, i'd file off the grooves, stipple the grip, get a LW barrel, and holster it.

I have all Gen 3 SF models. I prefer how the Gen 4 feels in my hand and I prefer the RSA on the G20 Gen 4 as it keeps the slide off the frame with hot loads, but still has a lower felt recoil. In my Gen 3 G20SF's I run a 22lb spring which does keep the slide from battering the frame on my hottest loads, but also has more felt recoil.

These are not major items, I likely wouldn't wait for a Gen 4 if I didn't have a G20SF and one was sitting in the case in front of me.

If you decide on the G20SF and want to install a heavier spring (something many of the most experienced on this forum don't do, but I do), Wolff Springs online, 22lb will cycle just about anything you want to shoot, including 40S&W's.

What's the estimated date? Would you be saving any money by getting the 3rd gen?

Why do I carry a 10mm?

I'm a huge fan of the gen 4, but am perfectly happy with my gen 3 20. Go for it and save some money.

I have a "field proven" Gen 3. Mine's actually the "brick grip" non SF version since the SF did not exist when I bought mine. I can definitively say that it is a sweet gun. Lots of rounds. IDPA, concealed carry, wilderness carry, range fun, whatever.

Mild mouse farts to hot and heavy loads. It flat runs everything that I feed it. Swap the recoil spring assembly every 3000 rounds, and she keeps running. Oh, and after a while you might need to replace the ejector (trigger housing). Mine had some wear. Inexpensive fix and off she goes.

Good call dryfly. You won't be disappointed.

I had the 20SF. Liked it ok but traded it off. Missed the 10mm too much and decided to get another. I went through the same issues and thoughts you are. Ended up going with the gen 4 20. Much better feel to me. Less felt recoil to me and more accurate. I'd go with the gen 4. Try looking online for a deal. That's where I found mine. Good luck.

2 weeks from order date.... not bad.... I was thinking this was going to be the case.
Headed over there this weekend ..... and they still have 2 Gen3 20sf's in stock...
