Alright, you've got me thinking...so it's ok to use DT exclusively? Stupid question perhaps, but is there any particular wear I need to worry about, or use stronger recoil springs?

Your standard springs will function perfectly. I like the feel of the 20lb. spring in my G32.

This ammo is very hot
I had the chance to chrono DT .357 in two guns today. One was a Glock 35 with a factory length Jarvis .357Sig barrel, the other was a Sig P239 so that is probably a good representation of the fastest and slowest handgun performance in the caliber. As a benchmark for today’s results I also fired and measured some regular off the shelf Speer brand 125gr gold dots.

Speer Gold Dot vs. Double Tap
|
Aside from Chrono, has anyone performed certified 25 yard accuracy tests between the two specific ammunitions using Glocks in .357Sig . If so, which Glock models and what were the statistical outcomes? - - - Please point me to the tests, if available.
Thanks,
Glockguy

I just took the plunge and ordered my first two boxes of Double Tap in .357 Sig. Can't wait to try it out, especially when that new G32 finally gets here.

Finally ordered some Double Tap in FMJ so added it to peviously listed....... list. I can't seem to find a website for Lancer ammo any more. That's too bad - it was really good stuff also!

The Double Tap website claims virtually no flash and I can report back that they are right on with that claim. I was particularly worried about flash because I have a ported 357 Sig barrel that I dropped in to my Glock 35. That is to be my trail gun. So, muzzle flash could be a real problem in low-light with my ported "magnum force". Though I didn't have any Speer to demo, I can tell you the Double Tap FMJ and Gold Dot both have almost no flash.
EDIT 03-13-2006:
I recently tried the Double Tap Gold Dot out doors, at night, under a bright moon. This situation was considerably darker than my earlier test. There _is_ quite a flash from the port as one would expect but it was a deep orange color and did not affect my vision, or my friend's vision when he tried it. However as a comparison I tried some CCI Blazer 45ACP from a 1911; its large white muzzle flash drastically affected my vision. I suppose the deep orange flash is like having a red filtered flashlight. That would explain why it didn't impair my ability to make hits on a steel plate the size of the IDPA 0 ring at 18-20 yards.

I'm almost positive that I'll be changing from 125 GD's to 147 DT's as soon as Mike gets that load out.

Hey guys--never tried doubletap here. Seems a lot of you like it. What about recoil ? how about rapid fire accuracy because I assume the extra FPS comes from higher loads. I've noticed the big guys like Win, Rem, Speer and Federal are going ultra conservative on their loads so is there a downside?

I've bought about 3 cases from Double Tap, 45,40,357sig, nothing but excellent. I call my g33 with his loads "MIGHTY MOUSE", alot more controlable then a short wheel gun. Barstow barrel and Hienie straight 8's.

Im loaded with Speer Gold Dots right now. Just until I can order some DT's though ;f
I'm interested in a 147gr, and seeing how it would perform in a .357 SIG

Using the above chrony data of 1594fps for a 125grn bullet that is 705ft/lbs!

Now if they just expand perfectly and dump all that energy, OUCH.

www.doubletapammo.com
the 700 #ers was from a G35 though.
Caliber : .357 Sig
Bullet : 125gr. Gold Dot JHP
3.5" (G33) barrel - 1415fps / 556 ft. lbs
4.0" (G32) barrel - 1450fps / 584 ft. lbs
4.5" (G31) barrel - 1525fps / 645 ft. lbs
5.32" (G35) - 1594fps / 705 ft. lbs
Estimating here, it seems they gain on average of 40-50fps per 1/2" of barrel added.
6.02" (G24) - 1644fps / 750 ft. lbs

Mr. McNett,
How come none of the larger ammo manufacturers have hired you up to make loads for them? I am amazed that your ballistics consistently outperform "factory" loads by the margain that they do. Are your loads above the pressure specs for them or something?

IIRC , most of Mike's loads aren't eve at a "+P" pressure level.
