P226 -Wicked Nice!!

Here is my new-to-me Sig P226 - very first shots at ten yards using Tennessee Cartridge Company - 125g - FMJ and a Mec-Gar 13 round magazine!

TOP GUNS *357 Sig* Club

I got it out-the-door(after shipping and transfer fee) for $480. SUPD was etched on the case so I assume it was a police trade-in or the officer purchased his duty side-arm and later sold it?
Anyway, it shot like a dream. It was almost like you couldn't miss - even if your focus was at half-mast! I only put 100 rounds thru it - the second box being:
Bitterroot Valley Ammunition - 121g - JSP

Had only one issue....when my daughter shot it, there was a *pop* no bang. Luckily she stopped and said - "Did you hear that?". So....We got to have a nice learning moment about the potential of a squib load! The primer popped (and was half missing) but the bullet didn't go anywhere. I had a similar thing happen with Tennessee Cartridge Company as noted in this thread (with pic):

This ammo is reloaded and for the most part works great as practice/range ammo.

I tend to really like Sigs and this P226 in NO way diminished that!- it only enhanced it!

The Sig P 226 is the best hammer fired gun on the market period!

IMO.

I will take my Sig P 226 to the grave with me.

A classic for sure. Love mine.

It says "STAINLESS" on the slide. Does that mean just the slide is stainless? Or is it the model that has the stainless frame? I like it! Thanks for sharing a photo.

I believe in my case, The slide is Nitron coated stainless and the frame is aluminum...

I think SIG marked the stainless slides STAINLESS on the early changeover to them from the previous stamped, folded and pinned steel slides of old...yours does not look to have been shot much at all by the previous owner as the barrel doesn't have much in the way of smilies...

even low round pistols usually have a good bit of finish wear on the barrel with the stainless slide and 357 SIG...

your price was fantastic (lowest I have ever seen)...are those mags after market Mec-Gars or OEs???

nice earlier model of the breed (flat take down lever and no light rail too )...

I believe they are aftermarket magazines. I ordered them from CDNN for $29 apiece along with some refinished 12 round factory mags for $20 each (which haven't arrived yet).
I'm just really tickled with this purchase!
