Welcome. Did you see the last shuttle launch at night! I saw it all the way on the Gulf coast!

Hi! I'm Jason. I live in the Tampa Bay area. I just found a position as a middle-school geography and history teacher, and I also work part-time for an armored car company. I own a G17, and have owned a G23, and G21 (I have not had the funds to own more than one firearm at a time, but hopefully that will change soon).

Mike from Boca Raton, transplanted from Nutley, NJ where the taxes are high and the services are low.

Jason, I too am a teacher. I have been for the past 33 years and teach Biology and Physics. It is a great career if you don't mind not eating steak too often.

I've been a teacher for less than a week; I have no idea what FETC is. LOL. I yelled so much today that I gave myself a throbbing headache. Still, I think I'm going to like it. I just need to get the kids to realize that I mean business (the teacher I am replacing was somewhat of a push-over; or so I've been told).

Set boundries for the kids. Have consequences when they over step them. Make a decision and stand by it. Don't waiver, but be fair. Don't choose favorites, however hard that may be. Be competent in your subject, which means stay at least one chapter a head of the kids in the book. Answer EVERY question they may have even if off topic, but don't let them keep you off topic-they are good at that. They will think you are the smartest guy on the planet. Remember, it is easier to relax the rules in class than it is to impose them after they have been abused.
Stay cool, kids need strong male figures in school-they may not have them at home.
Mustachio aka Mike

PS Try not to raise your voice beyond normal conversational tone. They love to see our veins pop-don't give them the satifaction.

FETC = Florida Educational Technology Conference.

I work in a school, but am not a teacher...and I like it that way. Don't envy anyone that does that job. Hats off to you that do.
