With a big enough can of tuna, I think it could be done.

Didn't Cuise race competetively? Or still does?

I love Top Gear! I read somewhere that it is the top rated show in Britain. It has been in production for over 15 years? I had never heard of it until last year, when I saw a video of them "testing" a Ford Fiesta during a British military beach landing exercise. Still one of the best "car tests" I've ever seen!

I believe you are correct on the top rated show, and with good reason, it is just so cool. I see that the history channel is going to try and Americanize / Ruin it here in the next few weeks, I hate what the History Channel has become.

Anyway, My favorite test of theirs was when the test destructed a Toyota Hilux diesel pickup, they wanted to see just how badly they could destroy it and still drive it.

G29 was spotted on the TV this morning.

She was in real time video but I could not tell if it was a time transported younger version of her or not.

Her smile is certainly timeless.

OMG, the History of Gangs and Pawn Stars should be relegated to the trash heap.

even if Cruise raced, he wasn't competitive.....
Only 3 TV/Movie stars were really any good;
P.L. Newman....great driver & a hell of a gentleman, met him @ Road America.
James Garner....could have driven F1 !
Tom Smothers(!) crazy as he acted, he was very proficient in Formula A when it was a SCCA series. Indy type cars w/5.0 litre motor. Saw him at Road America also. Being a tech/safety worker had it's advantages.

Augh, but what about the snot powered Firebird in Night Rider. Now that was a fully autonomous, green vehicle which could jump higher and run faster.

Only slightly more seriously, due to the line of reasoning in this thread, it might be time to pull out the Bullit DVD (IN SURROUND SOUND STEREO).

Some of the candidates include:
  • The five hubcabs that fall off of the Dodge Charger.
  • The way that the chase ends up North of San Francisco without crossing the Golden Gate bridge.
  • A quieter San Francisco with no traffic congestion.
  • The way the 440 Magnum Charger pulls on the 390 Mustang on the straightaway.
  • The way the Charger literally torques sideways as it pulls away from the Mustang on the straightaway.
  • The way Steve McQueen overrevs the engine and totally floats the valves and maxes out the ignition when he is pulling out the stops on the country road.
  • Bullit green.
  • 440 Magnum.
  • The jazzy 60s music in the buildup to the chase
  • The emphasis on the Charger's wheel man buckling up his seatbelt before he runs away.
  • Flashing back to 1968 and remembering actually getting carsick in the theatre during the hilly scene.

Yes.

I remember the actors talked about how that Charger would pull the guts out of the Mustang for shear HP.

I also remember MAD Magazine did a funny comic using Bullit movie scenes, wailing cars and bad guys managing to shoot each other.

Hmmmm ... The Dungeon scholarly research entities wish to formally acknowledge that we had not noticed the 5-hubcap situation. To expiate our shame at missing this vital detail, we shall implement an (admittedly minor) reduction in this month's embezzlement rate.

As far as the Golden Gate bridge situation, I think Suze and Twee-Twee have been playing games with Tardis again!

That chase sequence constitutes Muscle Car's finest moment!

Me, I just thought that the takedown Model 97 Winchester was cool. I have never been to San Fran, so I wouldn't have known about the whole bridge deal. and the five hubcap thing, well..... did the spare have a hubcap back before quality went south?

Or, you can diligently watch the chase scene as a homework assignment (hint, the Charger loses two hubcabs during the crash scene).

When they do show the ocean, it is correctly on their right. But there are other scenes which could not have been filmed on highway one. There is even a building which I am pretty sure is now near Santa Rosa (North).

Yup, but there are a bunch of films which take a close second:
Two Lane Blacktop
Vanishing Point
Smokey and the Bandit
American Graffiti
For chase scenes, the following do very well:
Vanishing Point
The Seven Ups
Ronin
Gator

but wait, there's more.

You aren't missing anything. I live 50 miles form there and I've been there less than a dozen times.

Yeah, no kidding. "I have a surprise for you under my raincoat." Well, maybe if he put it that way, then the shotgun would be a welcome surprise. Anyhow, it reminds me of why I never go to San Francisco.

Maybe today, they would have lost a space saver spare.
