Do you married guys do your own laundry?

I'm 55 (married), and have been doing my own laundry since I was 15.

Some of the guys I hang out with think I'm crazy. Why the hell would I want my wife to do MY laundry ?

Me, too. She does LOTS of stuff that I'm not good at (or really don't want to do). Doing laundry helps out, and isn't a big deal to me.

I'm 57 and do our household laundry. My dad, mom, and grandma taught me (when I was young) some laundry, cleaning, cooking, and gardening skills. That knowledge has helped me throughout my life and I've passed that on to my children. Being responsible and self-reliant is a good thing.

She does the laundry on weekends. I touch up both our stuff with an iron as needed while getting ready for work each morning. Her effort is 95% of the total.

I do all my own due to my sorting preferences. I'll of course include rest of family laundry in with mine. If I didn't my white sweat socks would be included with white dish rags and topped off with my white dress shirts. 98% of ironing can be avoided if you get stuff out of the dryer right away as well.

Seems kind of selfish to me to go through the trouble of doing laundry and separating yours and hers while you do it. If you're firing up the washer and dryer, why not throw some of hers in too?

Took over the laundry when my wife went back to school to get her degree. I have been doing it ever since. My kids now called dad when they have a laundry question!

52, I do most of the household laundry. Not that big of a deal who does what in our house.

She does the inside stuff, I take care of the outside stuff. I'm pretty sure she would rather do laundry than shovel the driveway or mow

Been married almost 44 years. She does most of laundry, I do some that I want done more urgently. I do all of ironing. She dumps finished laundry on bed, and we both fold and put ours away. Works for us. I would like to buy cheap generic soap, but she insists on Tide.

My thrice-divorced friend says that too.

Every now and then I give my wife a break and do the laundry. I'd say probably about 20-30% of the time.

Generally, when I do it is when she doesn't finish on a weekend - (we both work) - and it's like doing two weeks worth of laundry.

Being that we're both working professionals - that means we basically go through two full outfits a day. So it can really add up.

During the summer months, being that I do all of the outside work, I tend to be less involved in the laundry.

I hate how she does the laundry so I'd just assume do it myself all of the time but she dislikes other duties more so she chooses to do laundry more often.

I think the dynamics of how household chores are distributed largely is going to be a product of other responsibilities. EG; If both people work full time jobs... well, that'd create an obvious disparity if only one person did household chores.

I've done perhaps five loads of laundry in the last decade here at our house. And those were car/golf towels.
