Emerson: black or stonewash

I have wanted the mini commander for a while, I have plenty of benchMades and they are all silver blade. The only black blade I had was a ken onion kershaw I had(lost it,still not sure how).

Which would you chose? This knife will be used not stored. I am not hard on knives, but don't spare the chance to use them.

If it's going to bother you, the black finish will certainly wear and show use / marks / scratches / etc.

Otherwise, doesn't really matter...I do like the looks of black blades.

Overtime and with use it will not bother me, but don't want it to gouge or flake off. These may not happen, but that is my worry. I don't mind wear. Would there be any chemicals I would have to be careful around, that might eat the finish?

I've sworn off black coated blades. Stonewash is my vote. Good luck in your choice. tom.

If you are going to use and carry it regularly and for a long term, then to em the stoneash is the better choice as far as what it will look like a few years from now.

I have a stone washed Benchmade mini grip(Ritter model) and if I could get all my regular "carry" blades stonewashed id do so. I love the look and it never looks nicked up/scraped up/damaged.

I have this knife and love it. Also have it in the black, and love it as well.

I think you made the right choice. Only time I get black is when I get a good deal on used knives. I got a Spyderco Endura with a black blade for like 40 shipped from a guy so It didn't bother me at that price point.

This.

You'll be happier with a plain silver blade.

Black blades look nice when they are new, and then show wear MUCH more than an un coated blade.
