Remember when I screwed up and banned about half the people on the site, including myself?

When was that? I didn't see it, but remember you and others posting about it.

I don't remember precisely. It was a decade ago, at least.

Who remembers what Glock Talk's URL, or at least domain was, for the first ten months of its life?

I mostly lurked here from 99 till I finally signed up in 2001. Had this leftover fear that the government was going to track me down and break down my door in the Clinton era. Probably from reading Assaultweb too much. I do remember reading up on the Y2k forum a lot stocking up on toiletpaper.

Those of you who weren't here during 1999 to 2005 missed out on a whole lot of fun and drama. JLB and WaltherGA were two characters I tell you. Nicks mag scam was a shame here seeing as how many people lost money even though some were ringing the scam bell.

I remember that guy who kept trolling with his ultimate glock survivor stories. Like when he came with the tale about a guard who almost fell from a catwalk and his Glock pistol surviving being dropped into molten metal. When the metal cooled down they found the Glock still intact and went on to fire the rounds in the magazine with no damage. I think "Duck of Death" was his username.

We're missing several people, most went on with their lives and unplugged off the internet. Others have left us.

What I miss most, less forums to navigate through.

BTW I still have Tamara's pic saved somewhere.

I remember before the tan look, and when there were two forums. General Glocking and General Non-Glocking.

Can't remember the color though.

Umm, orange? Seriously, I have no idea what that means.

I don't remember exactly what I was working on, but I was running some maintenance scripts I had written against the user database, to fix/change/update something or other. My regular expression wasn't quite right and it changed forty or fifty-thousand member's account type to banned, including mine. Everyone who could fix it through the site's admin panel was banned. I had to log into the database directly to fix it. The whole thing only lasted ten or fifteen minutes, but everyone had a good laugh over it.

It's still good for a laugh.

Does anyone remember when I started a thread in 2001 with a title that said something to the effect that I regretted to inform everyone that I was closing down the site? It was a thread about the purchase of my 5" Kimber CDP. That one miffed a few people, who freaked when they saw the thread title.

Swapper is the task on VMS (VAX) that swaps processes in and out to manage resources. It is possible to make it swap itself out, then nothing, including swapper, can get brought back. Only way to recover is to turn the key.
