"You have plenty of ammo"

The gf just told me that...

Is she crazy, or what? (I told her you can never have too much ammo). Don't worry, she'll catch on eventually. She has her gun license now, and has been looking into finally purchasing her first gun and getting some pro training.

Can't wait till she starts snagging up ammo too.

Can't ever have enough, past several months I've been trying to stock up. Don't have a ton but its better than none.

I might have close to 5k and 3K is 22.

I'm tempted to order a few cases of the surplus 5.45 ammo, and I don't even have a 5.45 gun. 4,000 rounds of ammo for a gun I don't own is probably enough.

Until I get a 5.45 gun.

I have to ask. How much ammo is allegedly enough?

Only two times a person has enough ammo:

1) if you are drowning.
2) if you are on fire.

Heard that somewhere here before. Must have agreed since I remembered it and could quote it....

Too much ammo is never enough... Unless you're outta food. Then you can barter for food w your ammo... Lol

I don't remember where I came across the answer to this question. But, somebody said that you should have 10k+ of .22 ammo and 1k for all of the different calibers that you shoot (plus 250 for each additional gun of the same caliber).

Just turn it around the next time she goes shopping and tell her she has plenty of shoes, or purses, or some other darn thing women seem to believe they need nineteen of.

My "plenty" number is three years worth per gun..

Example:

I shoot 200 rounds of .38 per year so I need 600 rounds in my "stockpile." One .38.

I shoot 100 rounds of .22 per week so I need 15,600 rounds in my "stockpile." Again one .22.

But I have two 9mm, but I only shoot 50 rounds of 9mm per week (between the two) but I still need 15,600 rounds in my "stockpile.

It may be arbitrary but it's what I decided to do a long time ago.

When you have enough ammo, you will magically know. I have never met someone that had enough, so I don't know how to describe the feeling that you will get. I was my squadron's ammo nco, and I have a small warehouse of ammo, probably 10m rounds, 1000 tows, and a smattering of at4s and grenades, but have yet to realize the feeling of having enough ammo.

If you had no interest in guns but loved golf...

It would be the same question.

"Don't you have enough clubs...balls...tees?"

Anything you like will be criticized.

Women can't help but try to control, give orders, or just run their big traps.

Nip it in the bud now.

When did "plenty" become synonymous with "enough" ?

"Plenty" and "enough" do not preclude buying more.

Remember, "Ammo will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no ammo". Or something like that.

My wife busted me with my ammo stash a couple of years ago. I had pulled the drawers out of my dressers in all of the bedrooms and lined the floor underneath with ammo. Wife and a friend were trying to move one of them do to a home project and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't budge.

She just doesn't understand. I can't get away with many bulk purchases, I have just been picking up a box or two a week for many years and squirreling it away. When I want to shoot its nice to have ammo at home so my range trip doesn't depend on hunting down ammo at the store.

Honestly, I haven't counted in a while. I'd say only about 2000-3000 rounds. Nothing crazy. Probably about 500 rounds loaded in mags (pistol, rifle, shotgun)

I'd be happier with ten times that. And I will gradually accumulate, but I'm not going to pay ridiculous prices.

My last xm193 purchase was at $0.28/round. The quarter a round range I can deal with, but fifty cents per round is just too much for me to accept. So I'm not buying much lately.
