Colt New Agent questions

I have an opportunity to trade a SS Mini14 for a LN Colt New Agent in 9mm but I haven't had any experience with that particular 1911. Are they a good reliable CCW weapon? Is it worth the trade?
thanks

Generally the farther you stray from a government model in 45, the more issues that may be.

I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. Never shot one, but I love Colts and I imagine the New Agent a great pistol.

My .45 New Agent has been flawless. I carry it frequently.

Make sure that you like the trench sight.

Mine has been great too, sorry about the poster insulting your mini 14, guess he or she is having a bad day. Sounds like a fair trade. I sent my New Agent back to Colt custom shop and they did a trigger job, bigger beavertail and nicer thumb safety at a pretty fair price too.

Its not something I would buy, but to each their own. I'm not one for small "1911s".

I have the opinion that owners get rid of these because of the lack of sights. I don't want to use trench sights, maybe they don't either and decide to ditch the gun.

I would trade it for the TALO New Agent. That one has sights and it is really nice looking. A friend has one and has had no problems with it.

If you don't use the Mini and will not regret it, trade it. I just would not trade it for a gun that lacks normal sights.

That gun is designed for easy draw from a deep concealment thus the lack of sights. That gun is a defense SHTF in close quarters gun. Not a range gun by any means. I like them for what they are. I would need to see a very good pattern of reliability before I would carry it though due to it's size.

I agree. Not for everyone. I think Colt could have put some rudimentary sights on the gun and still fulfilled its deep concealment mission.

Go easy on this old man guys!
I own a Mini-14, shot it A LOT!

Then I discovered the AR-15.

To each his own, but as a working gunsmith,
the Mini-14 is just simply sub-par.

The sightless Colt's are just silly.
I carry IWB about 14 hrs a day and compete in IDPA/
IPSC matches. I've never had a draw compromised by any
reasonable sight.

I'm not debating sighted vs point shooting.
Just the merit of having a sightless pistol.

Suppose, just suppose........one of your family was being held
by a crazed assailant. I'd sure hope I had sights to enable
me to stop the threat and maintain the health of my loved one.

Make any sense?

Makes sense to me, Chuck. I wouldn't buy one.

The deal sounds fine. That gun is pretty different than a standard 1911. The sight issue would concern me , but it is quite useable at point n shoot distances.

I've seen NIB Agents with sights, did colt change its mind on the sightless?

CT version on mine too and it works great. If it fails I would just use point and shoot anyway.

As far as cash value I would say depending on the model mini14 you have and if there are extras being thrown in this deal is about dead even.

Both would be about $800 used and $1000 new.

If you want it trade for it.
