Attention window and siding guys

I just had windows installed and this is what they did for a drip pan for my half round window. My old windows didn't have anything installed, just caulk upto the window. Can someone recommend a solution for this?

Call the owner of the company, have him come out and actually look at the window you depict in the photo, look him in the eye and ask, "Do you think this is a good job or a good looking job?"

Have your camera phone on too.

Back in the day, I milled custom work around half round/round windows as far as exterior weather proofing and or aesthetics. That looks horrible.

There are 1/2 round J channels that do what abortion is suppose to do, but look like it's suppose to. You can get it from a place that sells vinyl siding looks like this
The Okie Corral

here's what it looks like on our old home. sorry I don't have a better picture

The Okie Corral

also "newer" windows have this channel built into the construction of the window frame itself. I haven't seen a window without for years

Yeah, that looks ridiculous. Is the contractor that installed it affiliated with any of the big box stores? If not there should be a contractor's/business licensing office you can contact with a complaint if they don't make it right.

That's some impressive work right there...

Assuming you hired someone with an office of some sort, print it out on an 8x10 and take it to their office.

If you hired a guy with a truck...well............

I like that idea. Bummer is I can't go in until next Thursday.

This is the only contractor I've ever hired. It's been a disappointing experience.

They make it sound like this flexible piece not being on there already is unheard of. The new window doesn't protrude from the opening nearly as much as the original, so I don't see how they could have reused the old one anyhow.

I'm thinking of getting sliding doors from them to match the windows. The resolution of this may determine that.

Thanks for the replies.

That's how you fake it on a job you didn't get the right pieces for. And yes, OP, it's wrong. There's no reason for it to be done the way it is.

I talked to the manager again today. He says they're looking into a fix, they've had problems with the flexible drip caps. I sent him a pic of it but haven't heard back.

I wonder if a metal fabricator could bend a piece of flashing seamlessly in the shape you need.

Could be done but there's no reason for it. Vinyl stuff comes in lots of sizes.

Update: I have the window factory reps involved. I'm optimistic. Will post a pic when done.
