Who Else Likes Their Gen4 G27 better than the Gen3?

I carried and shot my G27 a bunch when I bought it slightly used... When I jumped headlong into the Gen4 Platform, I quickly sold my old Gen3. The recoil spring felt like it dampened more recoil, and the texturing helped to tame this baby bulldog's tendency to want to "torque" in mt hand during firing.

I carry mine with Glock OEM +2's (+1-round in .40cal) or currently with the flush fitting GAP floor plates!
Such a PUNCH in a small package!

Gotta love that Gen4 Baby .40....

The recoil spring is exactly the same as the gen 3.

I don't have a 27, but I prefer the mag release and grip texture on the Gen 4 to the third gen. Jury is still out on the double recoil spring.

I don't have a 27 but I do prefer the gen 4 platforms over the gen 3s in all the guns I did have. So much so that all my Gen 3 Glocks are gone. Replaced with Gen 4s.

I sold a gen3 33 to buy a gen4 27. I prefer the old texture but wanted the back strap option. Installed a pachmayr tactical to remove the bite. Gonna buy a 33 barrel soon. Some days you feel like defending yourself with the auto .357 magnum and some days it's size ego thing and you want to be able to throw out 200 grain .40 caliber ashtrays at nearly 1000 fps. Certainly a decent job impersonating a 45 acp round. And you get both at a volume of 9/10/13/14/15/16/22 or 23 in magazines from the gun's manufacturer. Oh and it's fine to plink 9mm or carry it (a complete upper recommended) on the 27 frame. on top of all that I think glocks are good looking pistols in 9/40 subcompact and to a lesser extent the compacts. The full size look proportionally weird. Function is beauty with the glock. There are few places she is out of my reach.

I like the gen4 setup. I have a gen2 G27, never handled a gen4 27...I'm scared I might have to buy it!...The dual recoil spring is the same setup that the g27 has always had though. The Gen4 spring just has more metal in the front spring....I recently upgraded my gen2 to this spring because my spring was wore out.

DB,

I have a Gen3 and Gen4 subcompacts, and prefer the Gen4 platform. However, I really like the less abrasive Gen3 when carrying IWB without an undershirt. The Gen4 is a bit more rough on the skin.

I did the exact same thing with the exception of my Gen3 9mm's (17,2-19's,2-26's).... The dual recoil springs benefit the .40 cals the best....

I like the back strap set up. Pearce extension still a must. I put mole skin on the side of the grip that touches my skin. The new texture is really abrasive after a long day. Not RTF2 abrasive but still too much for me.

All generations, including 3 and 4, for all the G26, G27, G33, and G39 subcompacts use the exact same identical RSA, marked 0-8-1, Glock Part SP 02211.

It's true that the appearance of these springs has changed somewhat during the 18 years that Glock has made subcompact models.

I'm a Gen 4 fan, especially for the full-size models. The most significant internal technical change for Gen 4 vs. Gen 3 is the RSA, and because the subcompacts of all generations use the same RSA, that's one less advantage that a subcompact gen 4 has over earlier models. I also like the standard grip pull length, so I get no advantage from the Gen 4 MBS. Nor do I use a reversible magazine catch. The rough-texture grip and the larger magazine catch is about all that I'd get that I didn't have already.

Mike M is correct about the RSA. It's not the same construction as the old RSA. The new one is really nice and improved and fits all gen's...so if you have an older subcompact spend 20 dollars for a new RSA and you basically have a gen4 gun, I ordered mine from Amazon.com. I feel the same way about the other changes. I'm right handed and don't need a dual mag release, the back straps are cool and I really like the beaver tail on my g19 but the G27 fits my hand perfectly. another mag is always nice but I can pick one up if i wanted one.

Some say they feel a difference and some don't. The only guns you'll feel a different in are the competition, full size, and compact Glocks. The sub-compacts have the same dual recoil spring as they did in the gen 3.
